With Mother’s Day just around the corner, the broadcast featured a segment titled “Tomorrow is Mother’s Day! Let’s Convey Our Thanks to Our Mothers~!.” During this special segment, childhood photos of the two voice actors were unveiled, leading them to share heartwarming episodes and memories they have with their mothers and from their own younger years. To add to the fun, a surprise live phone call with Kawashima Reiji-kun’s mother was also arranged, leading to some truly memorable moments.

Special “Mother’s Day” Segment: Seki and Kawashima Share Episodes with Their Mothers

The segment kicked off with a look at their adorable childhood photos. Seki-san was captured pretending to be a hero, something he loved even back then, while Kawashima-kun looked cool straddling his parents’ motorcycle. Seeing the photos, which still show hints of their current selves, viewers online were delighted, leaving comments like “Chibi Seki-san is too cute!”, “Reijiru’s worried eyebrows are adorable~!”, and “You can totally see the resemblance!”.

Delving into their memories, Seki Tomokazu-san, who often shares heartwarming stories about his close relationship with his mother on the show, described her as “simply kind” and noted that he “only got yelled at fiercely about once!”. When asked about his own childhood personality, he revealed he was quite the “show-off” (目立ちたがり屋). He then shared a charming anecdote about volunteering for both the popular prince role and the unique cymbal player part (which only one person could do) in a school play. He won both through janken (rock-paper-scissors)! Afterward, he recounted, “My friends and the kindergarten teacher actually came to my house together and asked, ‘Could you switch one role?’! So I gave up the cymbal part (lol).” This story of being directly asked to concede a role drew laughter from everyone.

Meanwhile, Kawashima Reiji-kun shared a more recent story. He talked about showing his mother around Tokyo when she visited during GW. Wanting to take her to as many new places as possible and ensure she had fun, he ended up walking her “60,000 steps in four days,” admitting he might have tired her out instead. He even planned meticulously, finding ways for her to wait during his work commitments by introducing her to limited-edition Tokyo drinks. Seki-san was full of praise for Kawashima-kun’s dedication, exclaiming, “That’s great!” and “He’s so thoughtful of his mother!”

Following these touching stories, both Seki-san and Kawashima-kun delivered heartfelt video messages of thanks to their mothers, filling the studio with a warm, gentle atmosphere. But the surprises weren’t over! The staff had planned a little dokkiri (prank) for Kawashima-kun. Seki-san casually suggested, “Don’t you want to hear your mother’s voice directly? Why don’t you call her?” Kawashima-kun, looking a bit bewildered, dialed his family home, only for his mother to answer the phone! It turned out she had been waiting for the surprise call. Kawashima-kun was utterly surprised, exclaiming, “You knew!?”

During the call, they delved deeper into memories, discussing her Tokyo sightseeing experience with Kawashima-kun and his childhood acts of kindness. There was a particularly heartwarming moment when they both seemed a little shy when talking about the video message they had just exchanged. Watching the sweet interaction, Seki-san smiled and commented, “Talking to your mother, I feel like I understand Kawashima-kun even better now.” Viewers also flooded the chat with warm comments, saying things like “Seeing them both get shy is making me tear up,” “What a great episode,” and “He’s such a wonderful son.”
