Great news from the Boku no Hero Academia (also known as My Hero Academia) Super Stage at Jump Festa 2026! The beloved superhero series is getting a brand-new television special. Mark your calendars for May 2, 2026, when it premieres at 5:30 p.m. on Yomiuri TV and NTV’s network of 29 stations across Japan.
What’s the Special All About?
This special episode will bring to life the story titled More, which was originally included in the manga’s 42nd volume. It’s set to follow Deku and the gang beyond the ending of the main storyline, giving fans a delightful extra glimpse into their world.
A Legacy of Animation by Bones
The anime adaptation has been a massive hit, all produced by the renowned studio Bones. It all started back in Spring 2016 with the first season. From there, the journey continued with subsequent seasons premiering in Spring 2017, Spring 2018, Fall 2019, Spring 2021, Fall 2022, and Spring 2024. The final season wrapped up in Fall 2025.
Beyond the TV series, the franchise has expanded with several OVAs and movies. Fans have enjoyed side-story films like Futari no Hero, Heroes:Rising, and World Heroes’ Mission, with the latest movie, You’re Next, hitting theaters in August 2024.
The Manga That Started It All
All this heroics began with Horikoshi Kouhei‘s action-packed superhero manga. Inspired by his earlier one-shot Boku no Hero, the series kicked off in Weekly Shounen Jump in July 2014 and captivated readers until its conclusion in August 2024. The 42nd and final volume landed in December 2024, wrapping up an epic decade-long story.
