Anime theme songs pack a serious punch with their layered visuals full of foreshadowing, lyrics that breathe life into the world, and sounds that instantly pull you back into the story. So, which track won your heart in 2025?

As part of its annual tradition, Anime! Anime! held its grand anime poll at year’s end.
For the survey titled “What’s your favorite theme song?”, we asked folks to pick one OP and one ED each. From December 6th to the 15th, we gathered 272 responses.
The breakdown was 71% male, 25% female, and 4% who preferred not to say. Age-wise, the 40-44 group led at about 27.6%, followed by 19-and-under at 14.7%, and 35-39 at 13.2%.

Right here, right now, we’re unveiling the results for the “OP Edition”!

Songs That Capture Youth Take the Top Spots!

1st Place

TV Anime 'Hibi wa Sugiredo Meshi Umashi' key visual
‘Hibi wa Sugiredo Meshi Umashi’ (C) Hibi Meshi Seisaku Iinkai

Taking the crown is the OP from ‘Hibi wa Sugiredo Meshi Umashi’ (which can be translated as Days Pass, But the Food is Tasty): “Sonna Mon ne” by asmi. It secured about 8.4% of the votes.

This original anime depicts the daily lives of university girls in the “Food Culture Research Club.” Of course, the mouth-watering food animation is a highlight, but the story itself, full of smiles and relatable moments, is equally charming.

The OP that colors the beginning of such a series has a gentle, healing sound. The warm vocals and lyrics that make you appreciate the little, everyday things clearly resonated with fans.

2nd Place

TV Anime 'Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu.' key visual
‘Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu.’ (C) Kuzushiro/Kodansha/”Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu.” Seisaku Iinkai

Three titles are tied for 2nd place! ‘Sono Kisekae Ningyou wa Koi wo Suru Season 2’ (also known as My Dress-Up Darling), ‘Baddo Gaaru’ (Bad Girl), and ‘Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu.’ (It’s a Workplace Where Smiles Never Fade), each with about 8% support.

For ‘Sono Kisekae Ningyou wa Koi wo Suru Season 2’, the band Spira Spica returned from the first season to handle the OP again. Their song “Ao to Kirameki” is bursting with pure romantic feelings and a youthful glow. The OP video also left an impression with its stylish, seamlessly integrated subtitles.

The OP for ‘Baddo Gaaru’, “Suupaa Biggurabu!” by Tenrougun, is sung by the characters in the show, giving it that classic “anison” feel. With its catchy melody and lyrics that make you want to call and respond, it’s packed with fun from start to finish.

As for ‘Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu.’, its OP “Zettai Shousan!” by HoneyWorks feat. Hakoniwa Lily got comments like “it’s a cheering song for all working people.” Fitting for a series about a rookie mangaka’s turbulent days, the lyrics honestly convey the desire to be praised. Full of words that encourage hard workers, it’s a tune that gives you a real energy boost.

Let’s Hear More Fan Comments!

Landing in 10th place was “THE REVO” by Porno Graffitti, the OP for ‘Boku no Hero Academia FINAL SEASON’. The song includes lyrics that recall “THE DAY” from the TV anime’s first season, also by Porno Graffitti, making it an OP full of delightful nods for fans.
One voter said, “It’s emotional to have early Porno Graffitti vibes in the final season too… and you can really feel the staff’s immense love for the series.”

Although it didn’t crack the top 10, “Gohan Tabe Yo” by Mega Shinnosuke, the OP for ‘Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryuugi’ (Hiroshi Nohara: The Way of the Lunch Meal), also received votes. One comment read: “The lyrics are perfect for a ‘food terrorism’ anime, and listening to this song makes me unbearably hungry (laughs). I also love Shin-chan’s dad’s dance.” In the chorus, Hiroshi dances surrounded by curry, pizza, and more—a scene fans have affectionately dubbed a “domain expansion,” referencing another popular series.

Votes also came in for “Saikai” by Vaundy, the OP for ‘Hikari ga Shinda Natsu’ (The Summer Hikari Died). Fans noted: “I love the tempo and the slightly eerie music, plus the lyrics include a line the protagonist says in the story,” and “It beautifully expresses Yoshiki and Hikari’s feelings for each other, and it’s such a memorable song.” The sound is a masterful mix of freshness, nostalgia, and unease.

From songs reflecting characters’ sparkling inner worlds to impactful tunes you can’t forget after one listen, many OPs got love in the 2025 poll. Here’s to discovering another memorable track in 2026!
