Second Season Officially Greenlit!
Great news for fans of the underground clinic! The GA Fes 2026: GA 20th Anniversary event dropped a major announcement: a second season for the anime Isshun de Chiryou shiteita noni Yakutatazu to Tsuihou sareta Tensai Chiyushi, Yami Healer toshite Tanoshiku Ikiru (also known as The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows) is officially in the works!
The announcement was celebrated with a brand-new key visual and a special promotional video, confirming that Zenos and Lily’s story in the shadows is far from over.
The Announcement & First Season Recap
The first season of this adventure fantasy anime, produced by studio Makaria, aired for 12 episodes during the Spring 2025 season. It was based on the popular light novel series by Hishikawa Sakaku and quickly found an international audience thanks to a simulcast by Crunchyroll, which offered it in multiple languages.
The story follows Zenos, a self-taught healing genius who gets booted from his adventuring party despite his incredible skills. Finding a new purpose, he decides to open a clandestine clinic to help society’s outcasts, starting with an elf slave named Lily. His quiet ambition, however, soon pulls him into larger conflicts involving mythical races and the kingdom’s knights.
About the Series & Source Material
The light novel series, often shortened by fans to Yami Healer, began its life on the Shousetsuka ni Narou web novel platform in November 2020. It was later picked up for print by SB Creative under their GA Novel label, featuring illustrations by Daburyuu. The eighth volume hit shelves in March 2025.
For manga readers, an adaptation by artist Junoichi Ten has been serialized online since January 2022, with its fifth compiled volume released in June 2025. English-speaking fans can catch up through J-Novel Club, which holds the license for both the light novel and manga adaptations.
