Upcoming Broadcast Details
Bibury Animation Studios has officially stepped up with fresh updates for the television anime adaptation of Nyannyan Factory’s popular comedy manga Yani Neko. While some international readers might recognize the series under the localized handle Chainsmoker Cat, the official broadcast and all promotional materials will stick to the original Japanese title. You can catch the very first episode when it kicks off on July 3, airing every Thursday at 12:30 a.m. across Tokyo MX and BS11. Alongside the schedule, the official website just dropped a brand new key visual to set the mood and revealed a solid chunk of additional casting news.

Manga History & Global Licensing
Nyannyan Factory first brought this series to life on X (formerly Twitter) back in November 2022, quickly building a dedicated following through regular comic updates. That grassroots momentum translated directly into a print deal, with Weekly Young Magazine officially launching serialization in February 2023. Kodansha has been steadily keeping up with demand, publishing the eleventh compiled volume on February 6. The series has definitely earned its stripes in industry circles as well, ranking 12th in the print division for the 2023 Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards and securing the 18th spot in the male readers bracket for the 2024 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings.
On the licensing front, Seven Seas Entertainment secured the English rights in February 2025 and has been moving quickly to bring the official translation to North America. Readers already picked up volume two on March 17, and volume three is locked in for a June 16 release. With the summer broadcast schedule firmly locked and the voice cast rounding out, this adaptation is quietly shaping up to be a standout comedy for the upcoming season.
