Based on Akatsuka Fujio’s classic gag manga Osomatsu-kun, Osomatsu-san depicts the six twin brothers as useless, NEET adults. The first season aired from October 2015 to March 2016, followed by the second season from October 2017 to March 2018. After the theatrical film Eiga Osomatsu-san was released in March 2019, the third season aired from October 2020 to March 2021.
Furthermore, to celebrate the series’ 6th anniversary, the special films Osomatsu-san ~Hipipo Zoku to Kagayaku Kajitsu~ and Osomatsu-san ~Tamashii no Takoyaki Party to Densetsu no Otomari Kai~ were released nationwide in July 2022 and July 2023, respectively. The production of the TV anime’s fourth season was initially announced on June 6, 2024, and this news trended number 1 on X (formerly Twitter) for a long time. As the TV anime reaches its 10th anniversary this year, the series continues to build anticipation.
Now, it’s been announced that DA PUMP will be taking charge of the opening theme for this highly anticipated fourth season, and the song’s title is “Osomatsu-san no Bomba Shei!”. DA PUMP is a vocal and dance group currently consisting of six members: ISSA, YORI, TOMO, KIMI, U-YEAH, and KENZO. They have produced various hit songs like “U.S.A.”, appeared on Kohaku Uta Gassen (a prestigious New Year’s Eve music program), and won the Japan Record Award’s Excellent Work Award for three consecutive years in 2020, remaining at the forefront of the music scene.
Osomatsu-san Season 4 Teaser Visual
“Osomatsu-san no Bomba Shei!” is a cover of an overseas song with original Japanese lyrics penned by m.c.A・T, who produced many hit songs for DA PUMP in their early days. The title includes “Shei!”, a famous catchphrase of the character Iyami from Osomatsu-san. There’s great excitement to see how the song will incorporate the unique flavor of the series. Furthermore, since the series features six brothers and is strongly associated with the number “6”, a preview of part of the song is planned for June 6th.
Following this announcement, a comment from DA PUMP’s ISSA has also been released:
