Gintama is a manga by Hideaki Sorachi that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, with worldwide cumulative circulation of over 73 million copies including digital versions. It is a rollicking entertainment work packed with hilarious comedy, intense action, human drama, and bonds, and has been adapted into television and theatrical anime series as well as live-action films.
Additionally, from October to December 2025, the spin-off anime Gintama Multiverse Anime “3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-sensei”, based on a novel by Tomohito Oosaki, aired. Shin Gekijouban Gintama -Yoshiwara Dainenjou- is a completely new film adaptation of the “Yoshiwara in Flames” arc, the most heart-wrenching and tear-jerking story in the original history, presented in widescreen Cinemascope as the grand finale of the Gintama 20th Anniversary Project. It has been in theaters since February 2026.
