Kanan-sama wa Akumade Choroi Episode 4: Ami Declares War on Kanan’s Virginity

Ami Declares War on Kanan's Virginity

The episode opens with Ami doing what Ami does best: narrating her own fantasies about Kanan and Kyougi’s relationship progression. “Now that they’ve cleared the dating hurdle, next is kissing, then getting physical, and then doing the deed… All kinds of deeds!” The girl has a roadmap, and she’s not shy about sharing it. This isn’t just idle commentary. This is Ami establishing her mission statement for the entire episode. She’s going to be the engine that drives these two toward physical intimacy whether Kanan’s pride likes it or not.

Sweat, Sniffing, and the Collapse of Devil Dignity

The first skit throws us into post-gym class heat, and Kanan immediately tries to keep Kyougi at arm’s length because she’s drenched in sweat. Kyougi’s response is the kind of weaponized sincerity that defines this entire show: “I want to smell it! It’s the smell of youth! Something every man longs for!”

What follows is genuinely unhinged. Kyougi offers to wear Kanan’s “freshly removed sock as a mask,” begs to smell her, and eventually kneels before her to sample her scent while she has an internal meltdown. The comedic timing here is impeccable because the joke works on two levels. You have Kyougi enthusiastically indulging in what he sincerely believes is a romantic act, while Kanan cycles through about six different emotional states in thirty seconds: disgust, confusion, reluctant permission, and then the horrified realization that “if I’m making my junior kneel before me and sniff my scent… Doesn’t that make me the pervert?”

That line is the thesis statement of Kanan’s character. She can never just enjoy anything. Her devil pride forces her to reframe every intimate moment as a power dynamic, and she keeps discovering that she’s on the wrong end of it. The payoff is doubly sweet when Kyougi finally identifies her scent as “Tattack” laundry detergent rather than anything physiological. All that anxiety for a fabric softener review.

The closing gag of Kanan sniffing Kyougi’s towel, finding it “calming,” and then violently rejecting her own enjoyment completes the loop. “Don’t think about how much you like it! That makes it sound like I’m the pervert!” She’s been the pervert this whole time, and the show knows it.

Head-on-Lap Ear Cleaning and the Erogenous Zone Nobody Expected

When Kanan mentions her supernatural hearing is fading, Ami sees an opportunity and starts chanting “head-on-lap ear cleaning” like some kind of demonic suggestion spell. The fact that Kyougi picks up on it and immediately pulls Kanan onto his lap is beautiful. The boy doesn’t question things. He simply acts.

This scene is where the episode reveals its hand in terms of what it’s actually interested in. The ear cleaning isn’t treated as a cute bonding moment. It’s treated like something out of a completely different genre. Kanan’s ears are canonically her most sensitive body part because of her enhanced hearing, so when Kyougi starts cleaning them, her internal monologue shifts into full panic mode: “It felt like he was directly stroking my pleasure centers,” “shivers are racing up my spine,” “I won’t be able to hold in my moans!”

The visual description of Kyougi’s “three-pronged attack of ear cleaning, ear massage, and breathing on them” reads like a fighting game combo. And Kanan’s final desperate thought before she manages to endure it is “I’ll fall for you!” which is hilarious because she’s been falling for him since episode one. The denial is structural at this point.

The scene gets interrupted by Nadeko walking in on what looks incredibly compromising, with Kanan shouting “No more! Pull it out! Don’t go so deep!” while thrashing around on Kyougi’s lap. The classic “misunderstood situation” gag is old as dirt, but it works here because the show has built up enough comedic credibility that you trust the timing.

The Swimsuit Gambit

Ami’s “Plan B” involves putting herself in a swimsuit to bait Kyougi’s attention, correctly gambling that Kanan’s possessiveness will override her modesty. This is Ami operating at peak succubus efficiency. She understands that Kanan responds to competition, not encouragement.

The moment Kanan strips down to her own swimsuit and demands Kyougi’s attention is a perfect crystallization of their dynamic. She frames it as a command: “As your reward, you may sit and gaze upon me! Let my charms overwhelm you, you lower life form!” But the internal monologue betrays everything: “He sure is staring. He’s staring a whole lot. And even though he’s just staring, it feels like he’s touching me and licking me all over.”

Kanan’s brain immediately converts Kyougi’s gaze into a full-body violation, and she punishes him for her own imagination. “You must be highly skilled to toy with my body without touching it!” Ami’s bewildered response, “Skilled in what?!” suggests even the succubus thinks her mistress has lost the plot.

The accidental groping sequence that follows, ending with Kanan declaring “the whole ‘accidental groping’ trope doesn’t even happen in manga anymore” before the two of them end up in a compromising position on the floor, shows the series has enough self-awareness to lampshade its own clichés while still committing to them fully. Ami’s enthusiastic “Ooh, nice! This is great! You’re already in position, so why not keep going?” is the voice of every viewer who just wants these two idiots to kiss already.

When the Succubus Gets Desperate

The final sequence shows Ami abandoning subtlety entirely. She sics a dog on them, tries to trip Kanan into Kyougi’s arms, and when those fail, literally drops a high jump mat on them to force physical proximity while chanting “Smooch! Smooch! Smooch!” like a demonic cheerleader.

The trauma callback when Kanan starts stammering “B-B-B-B-B-B-Bra-bra-bra-bra” is a wonderful nod to the previous episode’s no-bra date disaster. Kyougi frantically assuring her “But you’re wearing one! You’re wearing one today!” suggests the boy has learned something from experience.

The Sleeping Scene and the Truth Kanan Won't Admit

The episode’s real emotional payload comes when Ami challenges Kanan directly: “Do you just not have any charm, Milady?” She points out that despite all her stage-setting, Kyougi never actually made a move. Kanan’s pride demands she prove otherwise, so she pretends to sleep in the committee room, leaving herself “wide open.”

What follows is unexpectedly sweet. Kyougi covers her with a jacket, calls her cute, and then proceeds to do push-ups as an outlet for his pent-up desires. Kanan, still fake-sleeping, grows increasingly frustrated that her “charm” isn’t working. She strikes increasingly provocative poses while Kyougi desperately works out, doing tongue twisters about clean clams, anything to distract himself from the sleeping girl he absolutely wants to touch but refuses to violate.

This is the moment where the series shows its cards about Kyougi’s character. He’s not just a dense harem protagonist or a hormonal teenager. He has genuine restraint rooted in genuine respect. He wants Kanan, but he wants her awake and willing more. That’s why he’s training his muscles into exhaustion rather than crossing a line.

The tragedy is that Kanan interprets his restraint as rejection. “Maybe I really don’t have any charm? Ami was right all along. I’m just a pathetic devil who can’t even tempt a single high school boy.” She’s so trapped in her devil framework where relationships are about temptation and predation that she can’t recognize respect when it’s doing push-ups three feet away from her.

The post-credits reveal that Kyougi did kiss her while she slept (or rather, kissed her jacket-covered shoulder, judging by the context) and the immediate cut to Nadeko catching him and screaming “Pervert!” is a great button on the scene. But the real punchline is Kanan’s reaction after the fact: “You bad boy, Kyougi-kun! How could you succumb to my charm and mess with me like that?! You lower life form! I’ll get you back for that!”

She’s thrilled. She’s absolutely thrilled that he broke. All her insecurity about lacking charm evaporates the moment she learns he couldn’t resist her after all. Ami’s final line, “She’s just as bad,” is the only reasonable takeaway. These two are perfect for each other and also complete disasters.

Where This Leaves Things

This episode is the most physically forward the series has been so far, and Ami’s role as the engine of escalation gives it a different energy from previous episodes. Where earlier conflicts came from Kanan’s jealousy or embarrassment, this one comes from an external agent actively trying to advance their physical relationship while Kanan’s pride alternately resists and craves that advancement.

The sleeping scene in particular feels like a turning point. Kanan wanted to be desired. She just discovered she was desired all along, and that Kyougi’s earlier restraint wasn’t indifference. It was struggle. For someone whose entire identity is built on being a temptress who can’t actually tempt anyone, that’s probably the most validating thing that could have happened.

The series continues to dance around the central irony: Kanan is supposed to be corrupting Kyougi’s soul and devouring it, but she’s the one being changed. She’s the one feeling jealous, vulnerable, insecure, and now validated in ways that have nothing to do with devil pride and everything to do with being wanted by someone she wants back.

Whether she’ll ever admit that last part remains to be seen.
