Fans of Sanrio’s golden retriever puppy Pompompurin can look forward to a special hotel experience in Fukuoka this summer. The “Pompompurin × Hotel New Otani Hakata” collaboration returns with two themed rooms and exclusive 30th anniversary merchandise.
Reservations for stays from July through September 2026 open on Monday, June 1 at 10:00 AM, available exclusively online. The hotel will also release new 30th anniversary items, including a water bottle and a bucket hat.
Sanrio Character Ranking: Pompompurin Leads at Midpoint
The announcement comes as the 2026 Sanrio Character Ranking reaches its interim stage. After placing second in the initial quick count, Pompompurin surged to first place in the midterm results, securing the top spot in 11 countries and regions. Last year the character won the grand prize for the first time in nine years. Cinnamoroll follows in second, with Pochacco in third. All eyes are now on the final results.
Two Exclusive Room Types
Hotel New Otani Hakata offers two collaboration room designs: “Pompompurin Ippai Room” (Full of Pompompurin) and “Kawaii o Hatsumei! Lab Room” (Inventing Cuteness! Lab Room). Both immerse guests in Pompompurin’s world for a heart-racing hotel stay.
Limited-Edition 30th Anniversary Goods
In addition to the popular card key and card key case (exclusive to this hotel), two new items debut: a water bottle perfect for daily use or outings, and a bucket hat inspired by Pompompurin’s signature dark brown beret. Both are ideal for summer travel.
The 30th anniversary card key and card key case feature special designs only available at Hotel New Otani Hakata. The inside of the card key case includes an illustration that only overnight guests can enjoy.
Exclusive Hakata Souvenirs
Other room-exclusive goods include a plush toy with “HAKATA” printed on its paw pads, an acrylic charm that can attach to bags or pouches, a soft Imabari towel embroidered with a Pompompurin motif, and a limited pouch made from traditional Hakata-ori fabric. The Hakata-ori pouch features the craft’s characteristic sheen and three-dimensional weave.

The collaboration is available for stays from July to September 2026. Reservations open June 1, 2026 (Monday) at 10:00 AM via internet booking only.

- Rate: 1 guest – 40,000 yen / 2 guests – 60,000 yen (per room per night, includes breakfast, service charge, tax, and accommodation tax)
- Saturdays and days before national holidays: additional 5,000 yen per person
- Limited to two rooms per day
Future stays from October to December 2026 will go on sale starting September 1, 2026 (Tuesday).
