A collaboration between Lapras, the Pokémon from the Pokémon series, and the lifestyle hotel OF HOTEL in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, will begin on June 1, 2026. The collaboration includes themed rooms featuring Miyagi scenery alongside Lapras, an exclusive goods set for overnight guests, and more.
The Pokémon franchise, affectionately known as “Pokémon,” started with the 1996 Game Boy titles Pokémon Red and Green, which became massive hits. It has since expanded into trading card games, TV anime, and movies, gaining worldwide popularity. The TV anime, which began airing in 1997, continues to this day. In April 2023, a new series kicked off with dual protagonists: the girl Riko and the boy Roy. Additionally, the stop-motion animation Pokémon Concierge, a joint production between Netflix and Pokémon, is currently streaming.
Lapras was appointed the “Miyagi Support Pokémon” in July 2019, and has been promoting the prefecture by visiting tourist spots and appearing at events. Lapras, known as the “Transport Pokémon” that travels across water, was chosen as the mascot with the hope that many people would ride on Lapras and journey through the coastal areas that were heavily affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
This collaboration brings together the Miyagi Support Pokémon Lapras and Miyagi-based OF HOTEL. Through collaboration products, the hotel aims to offer a stay experience where “staying itself becomes a journey.”
A Stay at OF HOTEL That Becomes a Journey
The experience is designed to connect three areas—”guest rooms,” “hotel facilities,” and “local region”—so that the stay feels like a trip through Miyagi with Lapras.
1. Guest Room Experience (Collaboration Rooms)
With colors that evoke the sea of Miyagi and spatial design expressing waves and water currents, guests can enjoy a stay that feels like traveling with Lapras.
2. Hotel Facility Experience (Collaboration Floor)
Wall art depicting Miyagi landscapes and Lapras allows guests to immerse themselves in the world of traveling through Miyagi with Lapras as they walk through the hotel.
3. Regional Experience (Collaboration Shop)
The in-hotel shop sells Miyagi × Lapras collaboration goods and products related to Miyagi. Guests can take home memories of their trip as well as Miyagi’s traditional crafts and culture. The shop is also open to non-guests.

Collaboration Floor & Collaboration Goods
On the 10th floor collaboration floor, wall art depicting Miyagi scenery such as Matsushima and nature alongside Lapras spreads across the space. The floor stretches approximately 14 meters and is well worth seeing (registered guests are free to view it). The art was created by Miyagi-born illustrator Kamei Momo.
Meanwhile, the in-hotel shop sells Lapras plush toys and stationery, as well as collaboration goods with traditional crafts—items packed with Miyagi’s charm. The shop is also open to non-guests.
