Amamiya Kazuki‘s Haibara-kun no Tsuyokute Seishun New Game (also known as Haibara’s Teenage New Game+) light novel concluded its main story with the 11th volume on Monday. The 12th volume, serving as an epilogue that covers the characters’ third year of high school, is scheduled for a 2027 release.
Amamiya began writing the romance comedy light novel under Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko imprint in December 2021, with illustrations by Gin (Rebuild World). The 10th volume went on sale on April 1.
A manga adaptation by Misaomaru started serialization in Comic Fire in June 2023. Hobby Japan published the third volume digitally on February 2.
J-Novel Club licensed the light novel for English digital release in October 2022 and published the ninth volume on February 27.
Studio Comet produced a 12-episode television anime that aired in Spring 2026. Crunchyroll streamed the series with subtitles in multiple languages.
Synopsis
Although college student Natsuki Haibara has already secured a stable future, he often reflects on his high school years, when he was socially anxious and overweight. After a wish to redo his teenage years, he wakes up one morning to find himself transported back in time, one month before his high school debut.
Using this chance, he gets into shape and makes a great first impression, quickly befriending familiar faces including his former crush, Hikari Hoshimiya. His feelings for her haven’t changed, and he sets out to make her his girlfriend. Along the way, he rediscovers his love for basketball and takes a part-time job at a local cafe, facing new challenges that test his resolve to live his adolescence to the fullest.
