‘Ghost in the Shell’ T-Shirts and Poster Debut at Shirow Masamune World Exhibition in Nagoya

The major exhibition “Shirow Masamune no Sekai Ten – ‘Koukaku Kidoutai’ to Souzou no Kiseki” (Shirow Masamune’s World Exhibition – The Ghost in the Shell and the Trail of Creation) will land in Nagoya from August 2 to August 16, 2026, at Matsuzakaya Nagoya Store. Organizers have announced that tickets go on sale June 12 and that new exclusive merchandise will be available at the Nagoya venue.

Manga artist Shirow Masamune is best known for creating the cyberpunk classic Koukaku Kidoutai (Ghost in the Shell), which debuted as a serial in 1989. He made his major debut earlier in 1985 with the SF manga Appleseed. His works also include Dominion and many others. His intricately detailed art, information-dense plots, and philosophical themes have influenced countless creators across various media. A new TV anime series of Ghost in the Shell is set to premiere on July 7, 2026.

The exhibition traces the breadth of Shirow’s career through analog and digital manuscripts, and also displays his personal books and comments, offering a rare glimpse into the artist’s private world. After drawing over 65,000 visitors in Tokyo and Osaka, the exhibition now comes to the Tokai region for the first time.

Tickets and Nagoya-Exclusive Tote Bag

Tickets go on sale June 12 at 10:00 AM via e+. A goods-included ticket (4,000 yen) comes with a special tote bag in “Light Purple,” a color exclusive to the Nagoya venue. Standard admission is 1,500 yen. Preschool children enter free. No other discounts apply. The tote bag is available while supplies last for the entire run.

New Nagoya-Only Goods: T-Shirts and Poster

Two new T-shirts and one poster have been announced as original merchandise for the Nagoya leg. The T-shirts feature designs from Ghost in the Shell: a black tee with the Fuchikoma (tachikoma) motif and a white tee with the Puppet Master (人形使い) motif. The poster design has not been detailed but adds to the exclusive appeal of the Nagoya edition.

As an entry bonus, all visitors who purchase an admission ticket will receive one of seven types of mini cards featuring Shirow Masamune illustrations. The card design changes daily.
