Isekai Quartet 3 Anime Sequel Announced, Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Joins the Fun!

Fans of the beloved TV anime Isekai Quartet have cause for celebration! A highly anticipated sequel, Isekai Quartet 3, has been greenlit for production. This new season will see Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (also known as The Eminence in Shadow) joining the chaotic crossover school life. Accompanying the announcement is a vibrant teaser visual featuring the main protagonists from the participating popular isekai anime, along with congratulatory comments from a total of 11 cast members who voice the protagonists and heroines of each series.

Isekai Quartet is a crossover anime featuring the popular isekai series Overlord, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!, Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Youjo Senki, and Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari. It brings these worlds together in a cute chibi-style animation, where the characters unexpectedly find themselves attending a school.

Starting with the first TV series in 2019, Isekai Quartet welcomed Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari in its second season in 2020. In 2022, the story continued on the big screen with Gekijouban Isekai Quartet: Another World. Now, with the addition of Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! in Isekai Quartet 3, this unprecedented school comedy will feature over 70 characters!

The production of Isekai Quartet 3 will be handled by the same talented staff who have helmed the puchi character anime world through the first two seasons. Ashina Minoru returns as Director and Scriptwriter, Takehara Minoru is in charge of Character Design and Chief Animation Direction, and Studio PuYUKAI is once again handling the animation production.

The newly released teaser visual, celebrating the announcement, brings together the main characters of the popular isekai anime series featured in the show. The theme for this visual is “It’s a ‘Puchi’ Singing.” It depicts Ainz from Overlord, Kazuma from Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!, Subaru from Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Tanya from Youjo Senki, and Iwatani Naofumi from Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, all holding microphones, ready to perform. Meanwhile, Cid Kagenou / Shadow, joining for the first time from Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!, can be seen playing the piano, truly living up to his title as the “Eminence in Shadow.”

To commemorate the production decision for the third season, a follow-and-repost campaign is currently underway on the series’ official X (formerly Twitter) account. Participants have a chance to win an A5 card featuring the teaser visual via a lottery.

The same A5 cards are also planned for distribution at the KADOKAWA booth during the “Chayamachi Oshi Festival 2025,” which will be held on June 21st and 22nd in the Chayamachi area of Osaka Umeda. Fans are definitely encouraged to drop by!

I’m Ishikawa Kaito, continuing to play the Shield Hero, Iwatani Naofumi.

I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone in this world again, who welcomed Naofumi despite his initial difficulty interacting with others in the previous Isekai Quartet seasons.

Seeing everyone who carries heavy burdens in their respective worlds spending time together peacefully and seeing Naofumi gradually opening his heart makes me feel deeply emotional, remembering the story of Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari so far.

I hope we can have even more lively fun in the third season! I’m eagerly anticipating it!

It’s like a dream anime, Isekai Quartet, where characters from completely different isekai works attend school together! To think it’s continuing to Season 3! Given the nature of the production, I had heard bits about the difficulty involved, so I’m both surprised and very happy!

It’s a very unique cast of characters, and though you might think it’s a dangerous mix, they surprisingly harmonize well, making for a very fun “quartet”. I’m looking forward to seeing and performing new interactions between different characters from here on!
