Adventure Time! “Moomin” Takes Over NEWoMan Shinjuku for a Summer Collaboration Event
Starting June 20th, the fashion building “NEWoMan Shinjuku,” located across from JR Shinjuku Station in Tokyo, is teaming up with `Moomin` for a special collaboration event titled “MOOMIN|NEWoMan SHINJUKU -Natsu no Chiisana Bouken-” (Summer’s Small Adventure). Running until July 31st, a total of 14 shops will participate, offering collaboration foods perfect for picnics and adventures, setting up limited-edition photo spots, and hosting various other exciting activities.
`Moomin` is a beloved fantasy series created by the Finnish author `Toobe Yanson`, featuring white, round characters. The stories center around the Moomin family and include other unique characters like the traveler `Sunafukin` and `Little My (chibi no My)`, capturing hearts worldwide.
In Japan, the TV anime `Moomin` first aired in 1969, followed by the new TV series `Tanoshii Moomin Ikka` from 1990. In 2019, “Moominvalley Park,” a theme park where visitors can immerse themselves in the world of the works, opened in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture. In the same year, the new CG anime series `Moomin Valley no Nakama-tachi`, a co-production between Finland and the UK, also aired in Japan.
The Moomin family is making a special appearance at NEWoMan Shinjuku from June 20th to July 31st. The “MOOMIN|NEWoMan SHINJUKU -Natsu no Chiisana Bouken-” collaboration features a variety of events, starting with a collaboration cafe at `Petrichor Bakery and Cafe` inside the station area (Ekinaka). A total of 14 shops across sweets, deli, and cafe genres will sell collaboration foods, and limited-edition photo spots will be set up.
Limited-Time Collaboration Cafe Menu for `Fika` Time
`Fika` (FIKA) is a Swedish word describing a moment to enjoy sweets and drinks like coffee. At `Petrichor Bakery and Cafe` on the 2nd floor inside the station area (Ekinaka), you can enjoy the “Moomin Tropical Smoothie,” inspired by the summer Moomin Valley.

Inspired by the classic Finnish sweet bread “Cardamom Roll,” they will be selling “Green Cardamom Shortbread.”

Savor a special camping meal featuring chicken thigh marinated in a special sauce and grilled, served over fried rice, all presented in an original `mesutin` (mess tin).
* 2F Ekisoto: 800°DEGREES NEAPOLITAN PIZZERIA
Experience Finnish cuisine translated into pizza form. They have prepared the limited-time menu “Smoked Salmon and Flower Pizza,” inspired by the flowers and meadows of Moomin Valley.

Plus, from the 2nd floor Ekinaka, a lineup of creative collaboration foods full of `Moomin`-inspired ideas will be available, including the “Karaage Picnic Set” (`Kagurazaka Karaage Saitou`), “Nyoro Nyoro Bento” (`Ichiju Shunsai Nihonbashi Dashi場`), and “Bread Bento” (`Komeya no Onigiriya Kikutaya Beikokuten`).
Limited-Time Photo Spot
A limited-edition design featuring the Moomin family enjoying summer will appear for a limited time at the 2nd floor NEWoMan ART wall (next to the JR Shinjuku Station Miraina Tower ticket gate). You can take photos with the Moomin family and feel like you’re on vacation!
On July 19th, a pre-selected lottery event, “Moomintroll ga NEWoMan Shinjuku ni Yatte Kuru! MOOMIN MEET & GREET” (Moomintroll is Coming to NEWoMan Shinjuku!), will also be held. You can apply by purchasing collaboration products at eligible shops between June 20th and June 30th.
Special Pop-Up Shop
From July 15th to July 28th, “Hokou Zakka KAUPPA” (Nordic Goods KAUPPA) will open a pop-up shop at the 2nd floor Ekinaka Event Space, selling items and food primarily imported directly from Nordic countries. This time, they will specially feature “MOOMIN SHOP HAWAII Limited Goods,” including plush toys and the “Kin chaku Pouch Yashinoki to Moomin” (Drawstring Pouch Palm Tree and Moomin).
