The music reading drama SOUND THEATRE×Natsume Yūjin-Chō ~Ongeki no Shō Natsukasumi~ has announced a live stream of its night performance, along with additional after-talk participants and new venue merchandise details.
Background
Natsume Yūjin-Chō is based on the manga by Midorikawa Yuki, serialized in Hakusensha’s LaLa and surpassing 18 million copies in circulation. The TV anime began airing on TV Tokyo in 2008, celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2023, and the seventh season, Natsume Yūjin-Chō Shichi, aired in October 2024. The story follows Natsume Takashi, a boy who can see yokai, as he inherits his grandmother Reiko’s “Book of Friends” and returns names to the spirits bound within it, accompanied by his self-proclaimed bodyguard Nyanko-sensei.
The SOUND THEATRE series has been performed three times since 2013, captivating audiences with its unique blend of music and reading drama. The new installment, ~Ongeki no Shō Natsukasumi~, marks the first new work in approximately eight years, featuring a stellar cast and a special ensemble performance by Yoshimori Shin, the composer behind the series’ music.
Live Streaming Details
The live stream will cover the night performance including the after-talk, with a limited-time archive available after the broadcast. U-NEXT subscribers will also have access to an exclusive live comment video featuring the cast. Additionally, three ticket purchasers will be selected by lottery to win a signed poster by Kamiya Hiroshi (Natsume Takashi) and Inoue Kazuhiko (Nyanko-sensei / Madara).
After-Talk Participants
Additional after-talk guests have been confirmed. Joining the stage after the night performance will be cast members Kamiya Hiroshi, Inoue Kazuhiko, Kimura Ryohei, Suganuma Hisayoshi, Yuzuki Ryoka, Ono Daisuke, and Komatsu Mikako, along with director Okamoto Takaya. The talk promises to offer fresh insights straight from the performance.
Venue Merchandise
New merchandise will be available at the venue on July 18 (Saturday), including plushies, pashakore photo cards, and an outing pouch. Additionally, the SOUND THEATRE × Natsume Yūjin-Chō ~Ongeki no Shō Natsukasumi~ acrylic stand will be available for advance sale at the venue.
