Yuru Camp△ SEASON4 Recording Up to Episode 3, 13,000 Fans Flock to Yuru Fes in Kofu

The second edition of the Yamanashi Outdoor Festival Yuru Fes (“Yuru Fes”) took place on June 6 and 7, 2026, at the JR Kofu Station North Exit Yotchabare Hiroba and Rekishi Koen in Yamanashi Prefecture. Despite rain on the second day, the event drew a total of 13,000 attendees and concluded in high spirits.

Based on Afro’s manga, which has surpassed 10 million copies in circulation, the Yuru Camp△ anime series follows high school girls enjoying authentic camping in the Yamanashi area. Since the first TV anime season aired in 2018, the franchise has expanded to include a film, and the latest installment, Yuru Camp△ SEASON4, is scheduled to air in 2027.

Music Talk & Mini Live

During the “Music Talk & Mini Live” stage event, composer Rishuu Akiyama performed 11 songs from the series each day on keyboard, accompanied by violin and percussion. The acoustic arrangements captivated the audience. On the first day, director Noboru Tosaka joined Akiyama for a talk about the music of the series and the progress of the new season. At the end of the performance, Tsumugi Shachi, vocalist of Kimi no Ne (who performed the opening theme for Yuru Camp△ SEASON3), appeared to sing “Raido Back Journey.” The crowd clapped along, and the mascot character Kigurin also made a surprise appearance.

Cast Talk & Lighting Ceremony (June 6)

The “Cast Talk & Lighting Ceremony” began at 6:10 PM on June 6, featuring main cast members Yumiri Hanamori (Nadeshiko Kagamihara) and Nao Touyama (Rin Shima). Hanamori revealed she had arrived in Yamanashi the day before to enjoy the area, while Touyama shared that she had tried wood splitting and sampled food stalls before the talk, surprising the audience. The conversation centered on the start of recording for Yuru Camp△ SEASON4, noting that about eight years have passed since the anime began. The cast also expressed interest in creating menu items for future Yuru Fes food stalls. As night fell, the ceremony moved to a lighting event. With Kigurin joining, a countdown led to the illumination of approximately 240 lanterns decorating the venue, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Campfire Talk (June 6)

After the lighting ceremony, a “Campfire Talk” was held around a real campfire on stage, offering a relaxed atmosphere. Director Tosaka, who has helmed the series since Yuru Camp△ SEASON3, shared his philosophy of creating the series with love. He revealed that he started camping and obtained a motorcycle license to better understand the world of the show, and discussed highlights of SEASON4.

Staff Talk (June 7)

The “Staff Talk” took place at 5:00 PM on June 7, despite rain, in front of about 300 remaining attendees. Manga editor Kuroda Yuki of Houbunsha thanked fans for the series’ 10th anniversary the previous year and set a goal for the next decade: “To deliver the story to the end for the fans.” The talk then moved to a segment titled “SEASON4: Can we say it? Can’t we say it? The limit talk.” It was revealed that recording for SEASON4 has reached episode 3, and animation production is progressing smoothly. The animation production is handled by FURYU Pictures (where producer Wada Kaoru is based), with the director also belonging to the same company, allowing for close communication. Producer Wada also expressed a desire to revive the “Zenzen Yurukunai Stamp Rally” (the “Not Relaxed at All Stamp Rally”) from earlier days, which drew laughter from fans who remembered the grueling distances between stamp points.

Outdoor Experiences

In the Rekishi Koen area, outdoor shop “Outing Products Elk” from Kofu City set up hands-on activity zones. On the first day, Kigurin appeared at 5:00 PM to try various activities. On the second day, despite rain, many participants enjoyed making alcohol stoves from empty cans and crafting aroma candles under covered areas. On stage, activities included a tent setup contest, a ropework workshop taught by professionals, and a marshmallow roasting session (first 30 participants).

Food and Drink

To showcase Yamanashi’s culinary appeal, numerous food stalls offered local specialties such as Kikyou Shingen Mochi, craft beer, wine, houtou noodles, “Seishun no Tomato Yakisoba,” dishes made with Fuji Sakura pork, and menchi katsu that appears in the anime.
