The TV anime adaptation of the popular manga Jirai Nandesuka? Jihara-san (地雷なんですか？地原さん) is set to broadcast from January 2027 in the MBS/TBS 28-station “Super Animeism TURBO” timeslot. Alongside the announcement, three additional cast members have been revealed: Uchida Maaya, Sugita Tomokazu, and Ono Daisuke. Furthermore, a music project featuring the heroine Jihara Mai will kick off ahead of the anime’s premiere.
The story follows Kuroki, a plain-looking high school sophomore who finds himself seated next to the rumored “landmine” girl Jihara Mai. This romantic comedy revolves around Jihara’s unpredictable behavior and hidden charms, which have won over readers. The original manga by Ryon is serialized on the GANMA! app and has surpassed 750 million cumulative page views. The anime adaptation, directed by Fujii Yasuaki and produced by SynergySP, was first announced last December, with Suzushiro Sayumi voicing Jihara Mai and Ura Kazuki as Kuroki.

“When I first heard that Suzushiro-san and Ura-kun were the main cast, I thought it would be quite tough to play their classmate. But then I heard my partner was Sugita-kun, and my worries vanished. On set, we balanced our characters while sometimes deliberately breaking that balance with ad-libs (laughs). In any case, I had a lot of fun acting freely.”

“I thought the title sounded dangerous, but it’s actually a very delicate love story, and I was struck by that gap. Jihara-san’s clumsiness is cute, and Kuroki-kun’s purity is endearing. The two voice actors perfectly sync with their roles. I have nothing but good feelings.”

Music Project: Jihara Mai Debuts with Cover of “Alien Alien”
Prior to the anime broadcast, a music project centered on the heroine Jihara Mai has been announced. In this project, Jihara’s close friend Iwakura Chinatsu will serve as “general producer,” fully managing the artist Jihara Mai. A newly drawn artist visual has been posted on the renewed official website, featuring a gothic-style costume in red and black. The costume design is an original creation by Sano Natsumi, who has styled many voice actors and idols. The outfit, adorned with ribbons and pearls, gives a mysterious yet delicate impression.
Additionally, a special news video revealed that the first cover song will be Nayutan Seijin’s “Alien Alien,” set for release as a 1st digital single on July 25, 2026. Fans are eager to see how the original sound blends with Jihara Mai’s unique personality.
