The second collaboration event between the movie Gegege no Kitaro: Birth of Kitaro and Seibuen Yuenchi amusement park in Tokorozawa, Saitama, has been announced. Titled “Gegege no Yuenchi Sono Ni” (Part 2), the event will run from July 17 to September 13, 2026, and features a summer festival theme with new illustrations, exclusive goods, collaboration food, and more.

The film Gegege no Kitaro: Birth of Kitaro is a feature-length work commemorating the 100th anniversary of manga artist Mizuki Shigeru’s birth. Based on the sixth TV anime series, it tells the origin story of Kitaro’s birth, focusing on the meeting between Kitaro’s father (formerly known as Medama Oyaji) and the human Mizuki, and the fate they face. The film won the 47th Japan Academy Prize for Excellent Animation. A special edition, Gegege no Kitaro: Birth of Kitaro Shinsei-ban, was released in October 2024, and a TV anime selection commemorating the 10th anniversary of Mizuki Shigeru’s passing aired from April to September 2025.

This second collaboration brings a new story: Mizuki and Kitaro’s father hear rumors of a summer festival at the “Yuuhi no Oka Shoutengai” (Sunset Hill Shopping Street) and decide to visit together. Newly drawn illustrations by Yatabe Touko, the film’s character designer and chief animation director, depict the pair enjoying the festival in jinbei attire. Yatabe also created mini character illustrations for the event.

Yatabe commented: “Congratulations on the ‘Gegege no Yuenchi’ event! For the main visual, I was given the theme of ‘Gegege and Mizuki enjoying a summer festival in Japanese-style clothing.’ I hope you can feel the specialness of this collaboration from their jinbei-clad festival fun. I also handled the mini character illustrations for the first time, which was a fresh experience. I hope everyone enjoys the various plans at the venue!”
Rally and Festival Games
Rally: Yuuhi no Oka Natsu no Chie Kurabe (Summer Wisdom Contest)
Mizuki and Kitaro’s father try a lottery with premium sake as a prize, but draw a mysterious piece of paper the shopkeeper doesn’t recognize. They decide to explore the park together to solve the puzzle. Those who solve it receive a “Mini Mini Acrylic Stand Set.” Participation fee: 2,200 yen (tax included).

Two Festival Games
A new “Shooting Game” featuring items that would make Mizuki’s eyes change color makes its debut. Additionally, the popular “Nezumi no Himitsu no Bounage” (Mouse’s Secret Ball Toss) returns with refreshed prizes. In this game, a “mouse” that sneaked into Seibuen Yuenchi sets up a ball toss to earn pocket money; players throw balls to defeat the oni. Fee: 700 yen (tax included). Prizes: A prize “Acrylic Panel,” B prize “Mini Card Shikishi” (5 types), C prize “Mini Character Can Badge” (random, 6 types).
Collaboration Food
Summer festival favorites like yakisoba and shaved ice appear as collaboration items. New this time is “Kitaro no Kaminokehari Fry” (Kitaro’s Hair Needle Fry) – fried potatoes mixed with fried pasta, inspired by Kitaro’s hair needles. Also returning is the popular “Medama Oyaji no Hiden Dango” (Medama Oyaji’s Secret Dango) in three flavors: mitarashi, Sayama tea, and miso. Each food purchase comes with a random “Limited Novelty Coaster” (12 types).
New Original Goods
A wide lineup includes standard items such as “Acrylic Stand” (2,420 yen), “Can Badge 3-Pack” (1,760 yen), “Trading Mini Character Acrylic Charm” (880 yen), “Clear File” (440 yen), and “Printed Ramune” (880 yen). For every 2,000 yen (tax included) spent on collaboration goods in one transaction, customers receive a random “Illustration Card” (9 types).

Other Attractions
A photo spot recreating a famous scene between Kitaro’s father and mother, recorded voices of Mizuki and Kitaro’s father at the Fujimi Tenbou Tower, the Octopus Adventure ride, and the public phone at Yuuhi no Oka Shoutengai are also available.
Special tickets include the “Gegege no Yuenchi Sono Ni Limited Bonus 1-Day Leisure Ticket” which includes a random “Limited Fan” (3 types) along with park admission and unlimited rides.
