Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season New Episode ‘Wazamonogatari: Karen Ouga’ to Air in Winter 2026; First Visual Released

The anime Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season has announced a new episode titled Wazamonogatari: Karen Ouga, set to broadcast in winter 2026. Along with the announcement, the first key visual has been unveiled, along with an introduction to the story.

The Monogatari series is based on the novels by Nisio Isin and animated by studio Shaft, known for works such as Puella Magi Madoka Magica. The story follows high school student Araragi Koyomi, who becomes a vampire after saving a dying vampire, and his efforts to help girls involved with oddities. The series began with Bakemonogatari in 2009, and the 2024 broadcast of Monogatari Series Off Season & Monster Season served as a restart, depicting the heroines’ later lives and Araragi Koyomi’s college years.

In July 2025, a sequel was announced, and now the new episode Wazamonogatari: Karen Ouga is confirmed for winter 2026. The first visual shows Karen gazing at her own reflection on the water’s surface.

Now a first-year high school student, Araragi Karen has had her strength acknowledged by her karate master, but she is ordered to undergo mountain training to reach the next stage. Her destination is the Ouga Sanzan, consisting of Onikaiyama, Senhari-dake, and Kachikachi-yama. It is a mountain retreat to face herself. What awaits her beyond the hardship? The first visual also carries the phrase: “Youth is a story of climbing.” Expectations are high for what kind of tale will unfold.
