“Mamono Tsukai no Musume” TV Anime Adaptation Announced; Cast from PV Returns, Teaser Visual and Staff Revealed

The winner of the 2nd Dricom Media Award Grand Prize, Mamono Tsukai no Musume (The Monster Tamer’s Daughter), is getting a TV anime adaptation. Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual has been unveiled, and the main cast—Ishizawa Maika, Kobayashi Chiaki, and Ootsuka Akio—have been confirmed to reprise their roles from the previously released PV. Key staff members and comments from the cast and creators have also been shared.

Story and Characters

Mamono Tsukai no Musume follows the journey of a girl with green eyes, tracing the path between humans, monsters, and the world. The story centers on Rin, a descendant of the original witch Ringreen who once saved the world. Rin possesses the ability to command all manner of monsters, earning her the title “Monster Tamer’s Daughter.” One day, deep in a quiet forest, she encounters Hakura, an adventurer who is on the brink of death after a battle with a ferocious monster. Rin asks him, “Do you want to live? Or do you want to find peace?” After saving his life, Hakura is hired as her bodyguard, and the two set off on a journey together. However, the cases that come to Rin—involving troublesome monsters—are never simple. The story follows the self-confident, willful, yet endearing little devil Rin and the slightly troublesome but irreplaceable journey she shares with Hakura.

Cast and Staff Comments

Ishizawa Maika (Rin)

“I will be playing Rin in Mamono Tsukai no Musume. I am Ishizawa Maika. I was involved with this work through Dricom’s original PV, and I am happy to continue voicing the character for the anime. Rin may seem self-confident and carefree at first glance, but she is a reliable character with extensive knowledge and the ability to command monsters. The story deals with serious themes, but the tempo of her conversations with Hakura and the comedic scenes are also full of charm. I hope you will look forward to the anime broadcast!”

Kobayashi Chiaki (Hakura)

“I will be voicing Hakura. I am Kobayashi Chiaki. As the title suggests, ‘monsters’ are an important factor that drives the story. What kind of ecosystem do they build? How do they interact with humans? And what kind of story will Rin and Hakura weave with these monsters? Please pay attention. Thank you!”

Ootsuka Akio (Ao)

“I am Ootsuka Akio, voicing Ao. I first learned of this work through the audition, and I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I think it falls into the road movie category, which seems to be my kind of thing. I am also looking forward to my role—a veteran monster who accompanies the young protagonists. What do you think? Don’t you already think it sounds interesting?”

Tento Dam (Original Author)

Mamono Tsukai no Musume is becoming an anime! …Is it really becoming an anime?! I can’t believe it myself, but the big dream I had since childhood has become a reality thanks to everyone’s support. The broadcast is still a little way off, but everyone involved is working seriously. Please wait a little longer for the new beginning of Rin and Hakura’s troublesome journey.”

Shirabi (Character Original Draft)

“Congratulations on the anime adaptation of Mamono Tsukai no Musume! I am very much looking forward to seeing how Rin, Hakura, and the other characters will move.”

Kumano Chihiro (Director)

“Congratulations on the long-awaited anime adaptation. This work has a strange comfort that cannot be summed up in a single word like ‘nightmare,’ a nostalgic air, and a dreamlike charm that makes you want to stay up late to see what happens next. I want to depict both the beauty and cruelty of this world as a hymn to all creation.”

An official teaser website and official X (Twitter) account for the anime have also been launched. Future updates will be posted sequentially on both official accounts.
