From the upcoming summer anime Ibittekonai Gibo to Gisho (The Stepmother and Stepsisters Who Don’t Bully Me), the synopsis and advance scene cuts for Episode 1, titled “Ibittekonai Gibo to Gisho,” have been released. The episode airs on July 8, 2026 (Wednesday).
Based on the manga by Otsuji serialized on Ichijinsha’s web manga magazine comic POOL, Ibittekonai Gibo to Gisho is a heartwarming gap comedy that has surpassed 1 million copies in cumulative print and digital sales. Directed by Inoue Keisuke, the anime is produced by NEWON. The cast includes Suzuki Hina as Nakao Miyabi, Kujira as Kounosu Teru, Serizawa Yuu as Kounosu Marika, Nukui Yuka as Kounosu Arisa, Mugiho Anna as Gungnir, Nemoto Kyori as Kounosu Yayako, Uchiyama Yumi as Nagomi, and M·A·O as Mitsuya.
The story follows Nakao Miyabi, a child born to a concubine of a distinguished family. She lived happily but modestly with her mother. When her beloved mother passes away, Miyabi is taken in by the main Kounosu household. She braces herself for harsh treatment, thinking, “Stepmother and stepsisters must hate a concubine’s child… I will accept any mistreatment!” However, to her surprise, her stepmother and stepsisters are not cruel at all—they are kind and gentle. Thus begins a heartwarming tale of a new family.
Episode 1 Synopsis: “Ibittekonai Gibo to Gisho”
Nakao Miyabi, a commoner child of a prestigious family, lived happily with her mother, though poor. But one day, her beloved mother dies, and Miyabi is taken in by the Kounosu main family.
Feeling burdened by her status as a concubine’s child, Miyabi bows deeply in greeting, ready for any punishment. However, her stepsisters welcome her with a bath and adorable clothes, showering her with care. They even start cleaning their father’s study to turn it into a room for Miyabi.
