The summer anime Kore Kaite Shine has released a synopsis and preview images for its second episode, titled “You Are Shining ~Drawing Manga Is Hard”, which airs on July 10, 2026.
Based on the manga by Toyoda Minoru, serialized in Shogakukan’s Gessan, Kore Kaite Shine is a manga romantic growth story that won the Manga Taisho 2023 Grand Prize and the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award, earning widespread praise on social media. The story follows Ankai Ai, a first-year high school student living on Izu Oshima, one of Tokyo’s outlying islands. A passionate manga reader, Ankai begins to think about creating manga after a certain incident. The series packs in both the pain and joy of creating manga, delivering a “manga × high school girl青春 story” overflowing with love for the medium.
Directed by Akagi Hiroaki, the anime is produced by Shin-Ei Animation. The cast includes Sekine Akari as Ankai Ai, Hayami Saori as Teshima Rei, Hitomi Saya as Fujimori Shin, Fujimura Hanon as Akafuku Kou, Minase Inori as Ishitatsu Hikari, Hidaka Noriko (高 is “hashigodaka”) as Pokota, Tanezaki Atsumi (崎 is “tatsusaki”) as Teramura Nana, Yukana as Kongouji Hana, and Inoue Kikuko as Hebichika sensei.
Episode 2 Synopsis
Still moved by the revelation that Teshima sensei is the admired mangaka ☆野0, Ankai heads home.
The next day, together with her classmate Akafuku Kou, she requests permission to establish a manga research club. Teshima is reluctant but sets a condition: Ankai must draw one manga.
With encouragement from Pokota, Ankai begins drawing her first manga.
Meanwhile, Teshima visits Teramura’s rental manga shop, a place Ankai frequents daily.
Kore Kaite Shine episode 2 airs on July 10 (Friday) on Nippon Television’s “Furaani” slot, broadcasting on 30 stations nationwide.
