The landmark isekai fantasy manga Kanata Kara (From Far Away) is finally getting a full TV anime adaptation, set to premiere in October 2026. The announcement came alongside the release of a teaser visual and teaser PV, as well as the reveal of the main cast and staff.

The series will air on TOKYO MX, ABC Television, and WOWOW. Leading the cast are Kurozawa Tomoyo as Noriko Tachiki, Kumagai Kentaro as Isaac Kia Taji, Umehara Yuuichirou as Rachef, and Takeuchi Eiji as Caimus Lee Gouda.
Written and illustrated by Hikawa Kyouko, Kanata Kara was serialized in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine from the November 1991 issue to the December 2002 issue, spanning over 12 years. The series has sold more than 4 million copies in total and won the prestigious Seiun Award for best science fiction work of the year. To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the manga’s debut, a full TV anime adaptation has been greenlit under the supervision of Hikawa herself, with direction by Abe Noriyuki (The Heroic Legend of Arslan).
Animation production is handled by Studio Deen. The series composition is by Takasugi Rika, character designs by Abiko Eiji, and music by Hamatakeshi (Cosmic Wave).
Cast Comments
Kurozawa Tomoyo (Noriko Tachiki)

“I am Kurozawa Tomoyo, and I will be playing Noriko. When I read this work for the audition, I was saved by Noriko’s healthy spirit. She is straightforward and honest. Rather than thinking I could do it, it was pure ego—I wanted to seal that soul I was saved by, whole and intact. Now that recording is underway, I am once again facing how to bring Noriko to life and make her shine. I will perform Kanata Kara with you in mind. Thank you!”
Kumagai Kentaro (Isaac Kia Taji)

“I am Kumagai Kentaro, and I have been given the opportunity to voice Isaac for the anime adaptation of Kanata Kara. Isaac is taciturn, clumsy, and gentle. I will give my all to portray him as he faces various conflicts and hardships, and as he and Noriko stand against fate. I look forward to seeing how this grand, beautiful, and unpredictable world will be expressed and depicted in the anime. Please look forward to it. I sincerely ask for your support for the TV anime Kanata Kara.”
Umehara Yuuichirou (Rachef)

“I am Umehara Yuuichirou, and I will be playing Rachef. I wanted to play this role ever since I auditioned, so I am very happy. I think Rachef is a very human character with Machiavellian traits, and I want to enjoy playing the negative aspects of humanity. Kanata Kara is a historic work that began serialization around the time I was born, and I feel a connection to its anime adaptation now. I am enjoying the dubbing sessions because we are performing while preserving the atmosphere of the era in the dialogue. I think both fans of Kanata Kara and those encountering it for the first time will enjoy it, so please look forward to it.”
Takeuchi Eiji (Caimus Lee Gouda)

“I am Takeuchi Eiji, and I will be voicing Caimus in the TV anime Kanata Kara. Caimus has absolute confidence in his own strength as a power user and does not acknowledge anyone stronger than himself. If he can use someone to become stronger than anyone else, he doesn’t care if that person is evil. He is a very pure and very arrogant man who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. He will be involved in this story as an enemy standing in the way of the protagonists Noriko and Isaac. This long-awaited anime adaptation—I will give my all as Caimus so that fans who already know the original story and those who are about to discover it will love the wonderful tale of Kanata Kara. Please watch until the very end!”
The TV anime Kanata Kara begins airing on October 4, 2026, on TOKYO MX, ABC Television, and WOWOW. The official anime X (formerly Twitter) account is running a follow-and-retweet campaign where three winners will receive a signed teaser visual poster by Kurozawa and Kumagai. After 35 years, the story of Noriko and Isaac is finally being brought to the screen—keep your eyes peeled.
