The Pokemon franchise is teaming up with Mie Prefecture for a new local specialty product: the “燦真珠の塩と尾鷲甘夏餅 三重県×ミジュマルVer.” (Sun Pearl Salt and Owase Sweet Summer Mochi Mie Prefecture x Mijumaru Ver.). This collaboration item will go on sale sequentially from July 4, 2026 (Saturday), priced at 1,000 yen (tax included).
Pokemon, the beloved franchise that began with the 1996 Game Boy titles Pokemon Red and Green, has expanded into trading card games, TV anime, and movies, earning fans worldwide. The TV anime, which started in 1997, continues to this day, with a new series that began in April 2023 featuring dual protagonists Riko and Roy.
The new product is offered by Isuzu Chaya, a Japanese and Western confectionery brand operated by Akafuku Co., Ltd. It is a special commemorative item marking the 150th anniversary of Mie Prefecture. The set includes a 5-piece assortment of ankoro mochi (sweet bean mochi) in two flavors: three pieces made with white bean paste and “pearl salt” (shinju no shio), and two pieces with a refreshing citrus aroma from a special peel of Mie Prefecture’s Owase sweet summer (Owase amanatsu) mixed into the bean paste.
Mijumaru (Oshawott), appointed as Mie’s support Pokemon, is a Water-type Pokemon, and Mie Prefecture is a region blessed with the sea. The product’s design and flavors are built around the imagery of the sea and water, expressing Mie’s nature and local character through these mochi sweets.
Ideal as a souvenir for sightseeing or returning home, the set is also a way to feel the charm of Mie up close. It is sold at select directly managed stores within the prefecture and at Mie Terrace. The product invites fans to enjoy the rich blessings of Mie’s sea and sun alongside the bright, energetic Mijumaru.
