Summer vacation is almost here, and with it comes a wave of anime-themed events, exhibitions, and collaborations across Japan. From immersive volleyball experiences to escape games, art collaborations, and character pop-ups, there’s plenty to plan for. Here’s a roundup of must-see events for summer 2026.

Volleyball Immersive Experience: Haikyū!! On the Court

The exhibition “Volleyball Immersive Experience: Haikyū!! On the Court” is currently running at Osaka’s Dōjima River Forum. Visitors can physically experience the plays from the anime Haikyū!! through interactive displays, video content, and newly recorded audio. The event focuses on the themes of “jumping,” “spiking,” and “connecting.”

Voice actor Murase Ayumu, who plays protagonist Hinata Shōyō, gave the event his seal of approval, saying he could “feel the world of the work with his own body.” The exhibition is designed to captivate both hardcore fans and beginners to volleyball.

Detective Conan: Real Escape Game – “Escape from the Gale Chase”

A real escape game based on the film Detective Conan: The Fallen Angel of the Highway is being held nationwide. Titled “Escape from the Gale Chase (Highway),” participants become members of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Headquarters’ Traffic Control Command Center and work with Conan and friends to rescue Ran, who is trapped on a runaway autonomous bus.

The experience offers a thrilling story reminiscent of the film and an immersive feeling of being a real investigator. It’s enjoyable for both those who have seen the movie and newcomers.

Play Format: Approx. 120 min total (60 min time limit) / up to 6 people per team / indoor event

Ebisu Beer × Yazawa Ai Collaboration: “Ebisu Bijin-ga and Evening Festival”

Ebisu Beer and manga artist Yazawa Ai have teamed up again for an experiential event titled “Ebisu Bijin-ga and Evening Festival,” running at YEBISU BREWERY TOKYO until August 31. The event features newly drawn bijin-ga (portraits of beautiful women) and an “adult summer festival” theme with displays, photo spots, and limited-edition goods.

Exclusive items include collaboration design cans, reproduction original drawings, and special artworks only viewable at the event. Original beer and limited-time food menus are also available, allowing visitors to enjoy the world of Yazawa Ai’s works with all five senses.

Chiikawa ☆ Starfall Skytree and the Secret Island

A collaboration between Chiikawa and Tokyo Skytree is underway until October 31. Titled “Chiikawa ☆ Starfall Skytree (R) and the Secret Island,” the event celebrates the release of the film Chiikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island. It features displays, photo spots, limited café menus, and original goods that bring the world of the work to life.

Highlights include exhibits that let visitors relive the film’s story, photo spots for “nuigurumi photography,” special nighttime video projections and lighting, and a sense of journeying with Chiikawa characters to a “secret island in the sky.”

Ultraman × mofusand Collaboration Goods at ULTRA MART TOKYO

At the newly opened ULTRA MART TOKYO in Harajuku, collaboration goods between mofusand and Ultraman are on sale. Items include a plush of “Same-nyan” dressed as Ultraman Tiga, mascot keychains, and pins—all exclusive to this store.

The store features a giant approximately 3-meter-tall Ultraman Tiga monument and photo spots, limited drinks, gacha machines, and meet-and-greet opportunities with Ultra Heroes. It’s a must-visit spot for fans of both franchises.

“It’s Not Just Cute!? Pingu Exhibition”

The “It’s Not Just Cute!? Pingu Exhibition” is being held at YURAKUCHO MUSEUM until September 6. Celebrating the 45th anniversary of Pingu, the exhibition is an interactive experience themed around an amusement park, allowing visitors to see, touch, and play with the world of Pingu.

On display are actual clay models used in production, behind-the-scenes materials, a corner where visitors can experience “Pingu language,” and participatory exhibits that feel like games. Exhibition-exclusive goods are also available, making it enjoyable for both adults and children.
