Hatsune Miku Wa Modern Cafe Opens in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka This August

A new themed cafe celebrating Hatsune Miku and the Piapro Characters is set to open this summer. The “Hatsune Miku Wa Modern Cafe” will run for a limited time starting August 7, 2026 in Tokyo, and from August 14 in Aichi and Osaka.

Hatsune Miku is the first entry in Crypton Future Media’s “Character Vocal Series” (CV Series), a music software that allows anyone to input lyrics and melody to make a song sing. The movement grew as countless creators produced music and posted it online, turning Miku into a global phenomenon as a virtual singer, with merchandise, live concerts, and more.

Wa Modern Concept

The cafe adopts a “wa modern” theme, blending traditional Japanese elements with modern Western touches. Each of the six Piapro Characters—Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, and KAITO—is represented in stylish outfits that combine kimono-inspired patterns with contemporary fashion.

Menu Highlights

The food menu features colorful small dishes arranged in a round basket (gozen) inspired by each character. Each set is priced at 2,090 yen (tax included).

In addition to the gozen, a dessert plate (1,890 yen) includes dango, pineapple and orange fruit daifuku, sakura mochi, dorayaki, and kintokikan, served with matcha. Character-themed drinks (1,090 yen each) range from a blue curacao latte with matcha milk foam for Miku to a butterfly pea tea latte for KAITO. Side drinks (coffee, tea, cola, etc.) are also available at 690 yen each.

Original Goods and Benefits

Cafe-exclusive goods featuring newly drawn art of the characters in wa-modern dresses will be available, including random badge sets (605 yen), clear cards (550 yen), blister figure-style keychains (990 yen), acrylic stands (1,485 yen), A4 clear files (605 yen), postcard sets (990 yen), and drawstring pouches (1,430 yen).

Reservation benefits include a random “tenori memo” (3 types) for those who make a paid reservation (770 yen) and order a menu item. Drink orders come with a random flower-shaped paper coaster (6 types).

Reservation Schedule

Lottery reservations open July 1 at 18:00 and close July 5 at 23:59. General first-come reservations start July 14 at 18:00. A reservation fee of 770 yen (tax included) is required, and up to 4 seats can be booked per application.
