Initial D x ANGEL CLOVER: Automatic Watches for Takumi’s AE86 and Bunta’s Impreza Now Available for Preorder

The collaboration between the manga Initial D and the watch brand ANGEL CLOVER has expanded with two new automatic winding models. Preorders for the watches, inspired by the cars of protagonist Fujiwara Takumi and his father Fujiwara Bunta, began on July 30, 2026.

30th Anniversary Collaboration Series

Created by Shigeno Shuichi, Initial D is a manga centered on street racing. It was serialized in Weekly Young Magazine from issue 30 in 1995 to issue 35 in 2013, and has sold over 56 million copies worldwide. The series’ detailed depiction of real cars and mountain pass battles had a major impact on car culture, and it gained global popularity through translations and broadcasts in Asia and Europe. 2025 marked the 30th anniversary of the serialization’s start.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary, ANGEL CLOVER has been releasing a series of collaboration watches since winter 2025. Previous models included Fujiwara Takumi’s TOYOTA AE86, Takahashi Ryousuke’s MAZDA RX-7 (FC3S), Takahashi Keisuke’s MAZDA RX-7 (FD3S), Satou Mako and Sayuki’s NISSAN Sil80, and Fujiwara Bunta’s SUBARU IMPREZA WRX (GC8) type R STi. The watches feature car-inspired color schemes and dashboard-style dials, drawing strong reactions from car fans.

First Automatic Models in the Series

As a finale to the 30th anniversary year, the series introduces its first automatic movement models. The two new watches represent the father-son duo: Takumi’s TOYOTA AE86 and Bunta’s SUBARU IMPREZA WRX (GC8) type R STi. The pair symbolizes the contrast between the son who inherited the legendary Hachiroku and the father who still knows every mountain pass.

The highlight of these watches is the mechanical automatic movement, which uses no battery or solar power. The winding mechanism, powered by the wearer’s wrist motion, mirrors the constant motion of a car. A skeleton dial reveals the balance wheel—the “engine” of the watch—beating steadily behind the face.

As a purchase bonus for the 30th anniversary, each watch comes with an original coin keyholder featuring the Initial D 30th anniversary logo.
