A new collaboration between the legendary anime series Evangelion and traditional doll maker Yoshitoku has produced a stunning 1/4 scale Japanese doll figure of Shikinami Asuka Langley. The figure, officially titled Yoshitoku × F:NEX Shikinami Asuka Langley -Japanese Doll- 1/4 Scale Figure, is now available for preorder.
Celebrating 30 Years of Evangelion
The Evangelion series first became a social phenomenon with the 1995 TV series Shinseiki Evangelion. From 2007, the franchise was reborn as the Rebuild of Evangelion film series, directed by Hideaki Anno. The fourth and final film, Shin Evangelion Gekijouban, released on March 8, 2021, earned 102.8 billion yen at the box office and drew 6.73 million viewers. Even after the series’ conclusion, its popularity continues to grow both in Japan and overseas.
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Shinseiki Evangelion in 2025, this collaboration with Yoshitoku was realized. The figure of Shikinami Asuka Langley, a key female character from the Rebuild of Evangelion films, took approximately two years to develop as a traditional Japanese doll.
Dynamic Pose Inspired by Japanese Dance
The figure’s pose was carefully crafted to reflect Asuka’s personality while drawing from the movements of traditional Japanese dance. Asuka arches her body as if feeling the wind, with her sleeves and wrists deliberately exposed to create a lively, energetic impression. In contrast, the previously announced Rei Ayanami figure (also part of the same collaboration) emphasizes a quiet elegance, with her left sleeve wrapped to hide her hand, conveying a sense of modesty.
Authentic Kimono and Craftsmanship
The kimono uses the same fabric and patterns as real kimono, and the figure’s body is actually dressed by slipping the sleeves through, achieving a beautiful silhouette and perfect fit. This attention to detail balances the dignified presence of a traditional Japanese doll with vibrant, eye-catching appeal.
Design Details for the 30th Anniversary
To celebrate the 30th anniversary, the kimono is made with two luxurious layers. The color scheme is based on each character’s plug suit. The obi (sash) features a turtle-shell pattern reminiscent of an A.T. Field. Both Asuka and Rei figures use the same fabric and patterns, so when displayed together, they create a matching “link coordinate” look. This product is not only a figure but also a beautiful traditional craft item.

The Yoshitoku × F:NEX Shikinami Asuka Langley -Japanese Doll- 1/4 Scale Figure is available for preorder from July 25, 2026 (Saturday) to September 15, 2026 (Tuesday) via the hobby e-commerce site “FURYU HOBBY MALL”.
