To celebrate the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Blue Lock, the cast has taken over the front and back covers of the August issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine. Meanwhile, the film’s official YouTube channel has released special talk sessions pairing live-action actors with their anime voice counterparts.
Magazine Collaboration
The combined 36/37 issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine, on sale August 5, 2026, is a special collaboration edition commemorating the film. The front cover features Team Z members: Takahashi Fumiya as Yoichi Isagi, Sakurai Kaito as Meguru Bachira, Takahashi Kyohei as Hyoma Chigiri, and Nomura Kouta as Rensuke Kunigami. The back cover showcases Team V members: K (from &TEAM) as Seishiro Nagi and Tsuna Kei as Reo Mikage. The back cover will be revealed on the magazine’s official channels soon.
Inside, the issue includes gravure photos and in-depth interviews where the cast discusses their roles and the appeal of the film.
Special Actor × Voice Actor Talks
On the film’s official YouTube channel, two exclusive dialogues have been released. The first, titled “Isagi Yoichi Talk,” features Takahashi Fumiya (live-action Isagi) and Ura Kazuki (anime voice of Isagi). The pair analyze the character from their respective perspectives—Takahashi describing him as “like a mollusk” and Ura as “like a pupa”—and share behind-the-scenes stories from filming and recording.
The second talk, “Bachira Meguru Talk,” brings together Sakurai Kaito (live-action Bachira) and Kaito Tsubasa (anime voice of Bachira). They discuss the dual nature of Bachira—cute yet manic—and reveal passionate anecdotes from their work.
The “Isagi Yoichi Talk” is currently streaming, while the “Bachira Meguru Talk” is scheduled for release soon.
Film Overview
The live-action Blue Lock film opens in Japan and over 25 other countries and regions on August 7, 2026. It stars Takahashi Fumiya as protagonist Yoichi Isagi, who is thrust into the brutal “Blue Lock” facility—a program designed to create the world’s most egoistic striker to lead Japan to World Cup victory. Only one of 300 high school forwards can survive and earn a spot on the national team.
The film is produced by CREDEUS, known for the Kingdom series, Kokuhō, and SAKAMOTO DAYS. The original manga, written by Kaneshiro Muneyuki and illustrated by Nomura Yusuke, has surpassed 60 million copies in circulation worldwide.
