The beloved Tachikoma from the TV anime Ghost in the Shell: THE GHOST IN THE SHELL is getting a new figure from the high-target robot figure brand ROBOT魂. Reservations are now open at various retailers including Amazon, AmiAmi, Bic Camera, and Yodobashi Camera.
First published as a manga by Shirow Masamune in 1989, Ghost in the Shell has become a cornerstone of cyberpunk science fiction. Set in a near future where information networks and cybernetic technology are highly advanced, it follows the special forces unit led by the full-body cyborg Motoko Kusanagi as they tackle cybercrime. The franchise has expanded into animation, Hollywood live-action films, video games, and more, influencing creators and culture worldwide.
The latest TV anime, Ghost in the Shell: THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, is produced by Science SARU, the studio known for Dandadan and other acclaimed works. Directed by Moko-chan, making her directorial debut, the series has been airing since July. The voice cast includes Sakamoto Maaya as Motoko Kusanagi, Yamaji Kazuhiro as Aramaki, Yasumoto Hiroki as Batou, Nakamura Yuuichi as Togusa, Goto Kosuke as Ishikawa, Nara Toru as Saito, Oi Maria as the operator, and Kaneda Tomoko as the Tachikoma.
This new ROBOT魂 figure, officially named “ROBOT魂 ＜SIDE GHOST＞ Tachikoma,” captures the AI-equipped thinking tank used by Public Security Section 9. Based on the new anime’s design, it features detailed construction of the main and sub camera eyes, mouse mount, and frame components.
The figure boasts the action-packed articulation characteristic of the Tachikoma, along with a set of deformed, expressive face parts that convey its cheerful personality and cuteness. The separately sold S.H.Figuarts Motoko Kusanagi can be placed in the rear cockpit, allowing for even more dynamic display possibilities.
The “ROBOT魂 ＜SIDE GHOST＞ Tachikoma” is priced at 16,500 yen (tax included) and is scheduled for release in January 2027. It is available for pre-order at Amazon, AmiAmi, Bic Camera, Yodobashi Camera, and other retailers.
