NHN comico has announced that its manga platform “comico” will officially end service on January 6, 2027. Moving forward, the company says it will leverage its accumulated expertise to focus on manga content editing and production.
Since the service first launched in October 2013, comico has delivered a large number of works to readers. The editorial department has operated under a “writer-first” philosophy, valuing the individuality and strengths of each creator while editors and writers worked closely together on production.
The platform has produced a wide variety of works across genres that were adapted into other media, including ReLIFE and Miira no Kaikata (How to Keep a Mummy), as well as titles such as Hentai Stalker ni Nerawarete Imasu, Waka-chan wa Kyou mo Azatoi, Tensei Shita Isekai de Kaseifu ni Narimashita!, One Night Shita Otoko wa Kekkon Aite deshita, and Douka Watashi yori Fukou de Ite Kudasai.
The company plans to build on over a decade of WEBTOON planning, editing, and production capabilities to explore diverse forms of expression, not limited to traditional manga styles or WEBTOON.
As for works currently in serialization, production will continue even after comico’s service ends, with chapters delivered through various other platforms. The company also aims to expand globally so that readers overseas can continue to enjoy these works.
While the comico platform itself is coming to a close, the comico editorial department will become even more specialized in creative production, strengthening its editorial and manufacturing operations. The team commented, “We will continue to discover and develop new talent and stories, work sincerely with our writers, and consistently create works loved by more readers both in Japan and abroad.”
For works previously purchased on comico, the company is currently preparing to make them viewable on the ebook store “Mejaku Comic” (Mecha Comic). Further details will be announced in stages on the official comico website.

Notes: The migration is planned for users who request it. Works registered as “purchased” on the comico bookshelf as of September 28, 2026 (23:59) are eligible. Instructions for requesting coin refunds will be posted on the official site by January 6, 2027.
