Pompompurin is teaming up with TEAM JAPAN, the official Japan national team brand, for a charming new collaboration. The beloved Sanrio character appears in original illustrations wearing sportswear and enjoying a variety of athletic activities, with a lineup of merchandise set to hit shelves this September.
Pompompurin Wins Sanrio Character Award 2026
The 2026 Sanrio Character Award, a popular vote among fans, saw a record-breaking total of 70,647,379 votes—112% of last year’s count. Pompompurin took the top spot, earning over 7 million votes during its 30th anniversary year. This marks the character’s fifth win overall and its second consecutive victory. Cinnamoroll followed in second place, with Pochacco in third, Kuromi in fourth, and Hello Kitty in fifth.
Collaboration Merchandise Lineup
The collaboration features original artwork of Pompompurin in sporty outfits. Products include a medal plush with the character hugging a gold medal, a medal mascot holding gold, silver, and bronze medals, a cheer mascot waving pom-poms, a face towel depicting Pompompurin going all out in various sports, and an acrylic keychain.
Release Details and Pre-orders
Additional items such as T-shirts, can badges, and clear files are planned for later release. The merchandise is scheduled to go on sale on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Ahead of the in-store launch, pre-orders for select items will begin on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, via TBS Shopping’s online store.
