Fans of Studio Ghibli’s beloved films can now bring iconic scenes to life with two new diorama items featuring paperweights. Based on Tonari no Totoro and Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, these collectibles capture the magic of the movies in intricate detail.
Tonari no Totoro Diorama Pen Stand
The “Tonari no Totoro Paperweight Diorama Pen Stand: Totoro’s Home” (9,460 yen) recreates the moment Totoro is seen sleeping in the forest. The design includes the adorable expressions and postures of Totoro and friends, with Makkurokurosuke in the background and a variety of plants, all rendered with delicate coloring and sculpting. The base functions as a pen stand, while the removable Totoro figure can be used as a paperweight.
Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi Diorama Tray
The “Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi Paperweight Diorama Tray: Stone Statue Tunnel” (9,020 yen) is inspired by the tunnel leading to the spirit world and the moss-covered stone statues at its entrance. Details such as the “Yuya” (bathhouse) lettering, the tunnel’s coloring, and the tray-shaped base that adds depth are carefully crafted. The stone statue can be detached and used as a paperweight, while the magnet-embedded stone pavement doubles as a clip holder.
Both items will be available from August 22, 2026 at “Ghibli ga Ippai Donguri Republic” stores, with advance reservations starting August 21 on the online shop “Sora no Ue”.
