A new collaboration scrub line inspired by the hugely popular picture book series Pan Dorobou has been released, aimed at medical professionals such as doctors and nurses. The warm, brownish-orange scrubs feature the mischievous bread thief and an array of tempting bread designs, bringing a touch of storybook charm to the workplace.

Pan Dorobou is a beloved picture book series created by Shibata Keiko, with cumulative sales exceeding 5.5 million copies. The story follows a cheeky yet endearing master thief who searches for delicious bread, and the comedic incidents he causes. An anime adaptation has been announced, directed by Kyōgoku Takahiko and produced by Shin-Ei Animation. The series is set to premiere on NHK Eテレ in October 2026, with Asai Ayaka voicing the titular Pan Dorobou and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu providing the ending theme.

The scrubs capture the unique color palette of the picture books—from the rich warmth of oil pastels to the delicate touch of colored pencils and the layered feel of paint. These nuances are carefully reproduced through embroidery and printed details on the back of the garment.

Adding to the playful spirit, Pan Dorobou and bread motifs peek out from the pockets of both the tops and pants. When the pocket is flipped open, the full illustration is revealed—a fun detail designed to spark natural conversation among colleagues.

Even the product tag is thoughtfully designed, echoing the cover of the picture book. This ensures that the collection’s world is felt from the very moment you hold the item.
