Disbandment Announcement

SCANDAL, the four-member all-female rock band, has announced that they will officially disband on August 21, 2027. The date coincides with the band’s 21st anniversary and follows their final concert at Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Reason and Final Tour

After reaching their 20th anniversary, the members held extensive discussions and concluded that they had accomplished everything they could as a four-piece group. To bring their journey to a close, SCANDAL will embark on a final tour covering all 47 Japanese prefectures, starting October 22.

Band History

SCANDAL formed in August 2006 when its members were high school students at a vocal and dance school in Osaka. They began with indie performances at Osaka Castle Park. The current lineup includes vocalist and guitarist Ono Haruna, guitarist and vocalist Sasazaki Mami, bassist and vocalist Ogawa Tomomi, and drummer and vocalist Suzuki Rina.

The band made their major debut in October 2008 with the single “DOLL” under Epic Records Japan. In December 2009, they won the New Artist Award at the Japan Record Awards. In December 2018, they established their own private label, “her.” In August 2023, SCANDAL was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest-running rock band with the same female members.

SCANDAL has been widely praised for their anime theme songs, including tracks for Bleach, Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Fullmetal Alchemist, Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto, Loups=Garous, and Pokemon Movie 17: Hakai no Mayu to Diancie.
