Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten Official Asks Fans to Hold Spoilers Until September 12

The official X (Twitter) account for the upcoming film Gekijouban Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten has issued a request to fans: please refrain from posting spoilers until September 12, 2026, at 0:00. The announcement also asks for consideration regarding the film’s opening footage, which will be shown ahead of the release during the revival screenings of Rebellion starting August 14.

What is the new Madoka Magica film?

The film is a completely new theatrical anime produced by the reunion of the main staff, including chief director Shinbou Akiyuki, scriptwriter Urobuchi Gen, and character designer Aoki Ume. It continues directly from the shocking ending of the 2013 film [Shinpen] Hangyaku no Monogatari (Rebellion). Homura Akemi, who became a demon out of her feelings for Madoka, now faces a newly created world, and the magical girls descend once again. The gears of the Madoka Magica world begin to turn slowly once more.

The cast includes Yuuki Aoi as Madoka Kaname, Saitou Chiwa as Homura Akemi, Kitamura Eri as Sayaka Miki, Nonaka Ai as Kyoko Sakura, Mizuhashi Kaori as Mami Tomoe, Asumi Kana as Nagisa Momoe, Wakayama Shion as Shichou, Kurozawa Tomoyo as Selma Therese, and Katou Emiri as Kyubey.

Visitor benefits

On the release date, a first-come visitor gift will be distributed: a “Magica Quartet tokusei shikishi” (special colored paper) featuring a joint message from chief director Shinbou Akiyuki, scriptwriter Urobuchi Gen, and character designer Aoki Ume. Additionally, weekly visitor benefits will be offered. For the first week, a “Aoki Ume kakioroshi mini shikishi-fuu card [Dai 1-dan]” will be given, with three random designs: [Madoka Kaname & Kyubey], [Sayaka Miki], and [Mami Tomoe & Nagisa Momoe]. The design you receive is a surprise.
