DeAgostini Japan has opened reservations for the character osechi “Godzilla Osechi 2027,” themed around the 2002 film Godzilla x Mechagodzilla, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2027. The luxurious two-tier set is packed with motifs of Mechagodzilla, Godzilla, and other Toho monsters.
Celebrating 25 Years of Godzilla x Mechagodzilla
2027 marks the 25th anniversary of Godzilla x Mechagodzilla. The new “Godzilla Osechi 2027” pays tribute to the film with a carefully crafted two-tier Japanese-Western osechi featuring Mechagodzilla, classic Godzilla, and other Toho monster motifs. The set also includes lavish bonuses such as an original-design jubako (stacked lunchbox) inspired by the film.
First Tier
The first tier is packed with Godzilla-themed treats, including popular Toho monsters and delicacies in a container bearing the Kiryu Unit mark, evoking the Type 3 Kiryu. A luxurious roast beef wrapped in a silver band inspired by Godzilla (2002) is also included, along with a rich selection of popular ingredients.
Second Tier
The second tier features ingredients inspired by Type 3 Kiryu, while the ever-popular Mothra motif gets new additions. Kid-friendly hamburgers and meat dishes are also plentiful.
Exclusive Bonuses
Bonuses include the jubako itself, two types of poster calendars (A4 size, four-fold), three pairs of celebratory chopsticks, a Godzilla nengajo (New Year’s card) for Godzilla x Mechagodzilla featuring an autograph and message from lead actress Shaku Yumiko, and a Godzilla omikuji (fortune slip).
