The live-action film adaptation of Blue Lock has officially crossed the 1 billion yen mark at the Japanese box office. To celebrate this milestone, the editorial department of Weekly Shonen Magazine has announced a special thank-you campaign for fans, featuring three parts.

The film, based on the manga by Kaneshiro Muneyuki and illustrated by Nomura Yusuke, opened on August 7, 2026, and crossed the 1 billion yen mark on August 25, its 19th day in theaters. The manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine, follows a project called “Blue Lock” where 300 high school forwards are gathered to train the ultimate striker for Japan’s World Cup victory. The series has spawned a TV anime, a theatrical anime, mobile games, and stage adaptations, with a new TV anime series in production.

Special Thank-You Campaign
The first part of the campaign will release special congratulatory illustrations that were originally featured in the booklet given to attendees of the 2024 animated film Blue Lock -Episode Nagi-. These illustrations will be posted on the official Blue Lock X account. The lineup of contributing artists includes: Aso Shun, Isayama Hajime, Oima Yoshitoki, Oh! great, Kato Kazue, Suzuki Nakaba, Terajima Yuji, Ni Satoru, Haruba Negi, Hirabaki Akira, Hiroyuki, Mashima Hiro, Muchimaro, Mokumoku Ren, Yasuda Tsuyoshi, Yamaguchi Tsubasa, Yamamoto Souichirou, and Ryo Kuruma.

The editor in charge of Blue Lock at Weekly Shonen Magazine commented on the campaign: “Blue Lock is a work themed around ‘ego,’ but the people involved have great relationships. Everyone is a passionate egoist, but they also value friendship. To celebrate the live-action film’s 1 billion yen milestone, we asked various creators and anime staff to help, and they all agreed. We’re now able to share the incredibly luxurious illustrations that were previously only shown during the campaign for the animated film ‘Blue Lock -Episode Nagi-‘. The live-action and anime projects are separate teams, but everyone works together as part of the Blue Lock project. We’re grateful to all the creators who participated. This is a wonderful project that shows how egos can amplify each other. We’re happy to share these rare illustrations with fans, and we hope the fans’ egos will help Blue Lock grow even bigger. The live-action film is currently showing, and we hope you enjoy it along with the anime and the original manga.”
The second and third parts of the campaign will be announced soon.
