The Idolmaster SideM Gets First Console Game for Switch 2 and Switch, Featuring 49 Idols

The Idolmaster SideM is making its long-awaited jump to home consoles. A brand-new game project has been announced, currently in development for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The title will bring together all 16 units—49 idols in total—for an entirely original story crafted exclusively for this release.

Since debuting in 2014 as the first male idol producing game in the franchise, The Idolmaster SideM has continued to expand through web-based stories on the official portal, live events, music, and merchandise. This new console adventure marks a fresh chapter for the series.

An Idol Produce & Scheduling Adventure

Players step into the role of a producer at 315 Productions, tasked with managing the careers of 49 idols across 16 units. The game will follow the same worldview as the stories currently unfolding on the Idolmaster portal’s SideM brand page, but with an all-new narrative built specifically for this console experience.

The central goal is a major live concert set one year away, with the company president’s concept for the event dubbed “MMM.” Each idol pursues personal goals while cooperating with teammates to overcome challenges and grow toward the big stage. As their producer, you’ll support them and share in their daily lives and struggles.

Leader Unit Shapes the Story

While the overall live concept is shared by all units, the way it is expressed varies drastically depending on which unit you choose as the leader. At the start of the game, players select one leader unit from the 16 available. The chosen leader determines the supporting units and the specific story branches, ensuring a unique experience for each lineup.

This means the dialogue and narrative details change with every selection, offering a wealth of replayability as you build relationships with all 49 idols.

All-New Costumes and Visuals

For this game, completely new outfits have been designed for all 49 characters, accompanied by fresh illustrations. The first reveal showcases the unit DRAMATIC STARS, featuring Tendo Teru, Sakuraba Kaoru, and Kashiwagi Tsubasa. The remaining 46 visuals will be released gradually in the lead-up to launch.

More Details to Come

The official title, release window, and further specifics are set to be announced in the future. The game is being developed for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, with a genre listed as “idol produce & scheduling adventure.” It is designed for single-player play, and is currently pending CERO rating.
