Production company Bandai Namco Filmworks has opened an official website for the television anime adaptation of Natsu Hyuuga‘s manga Kamisama Gakkou no Ochikobore (The Failure at God School). The site revealed a teaser visual on Friday.
Manga and Novel Background
Hyuuga and Modomu Akagawara launched the shoujo manga in Hana to Yume magazine in August 2021. Hakusensha published the 14th volume on May 20, with the 15th volume due on September 18. The series has over 1.7 million copies in circulation.
A light novel adaptation, written by Hyuuga with illustrations by Akagawara, began serialization under Kodansha’s Seikaisha Fictions imprint in January 2022. Its fifth volume shipped in May 2025.
Yen Press licensed the manga in English in August 2024. The third volume was released on February 24, and the fourth is scheduled for September 22.
Synopsis
In a modern world where supernatural abilities are regulated, the government classifies people with mysterious powers and issues licenses. Those with full certification can use the title of god. High schooler Nagi needs a god after her grandmother’s death leaves her family shrine without divinity. Her brother, a reclusive Himiko, isn’t much help. Her search might lead her to more than she expected.
