The manga Phantom Busters, currently serialized in Shueisha’s Jump SQ, has confirmed a TV anime adaptation scheduled to air in 2027. Along with the announcement, author Neo Shoko shared a congratulatory comment and illustration.
A Misfit Quartet Balances Youth and Exorcism
Phantom Busters is a slapstick youth comedy following a mismatched four-person group known as the Phantom Busters. The series depicts their dazzling and noisy school life as they fully enjoy their youth while driving away evil spirits.
The main cast includes Shishikuno Mogari, a wild boy with the power to eat spirits; Koreshiki Yuuto, a top student with zero spiritual sense; Kanzaki Kaoru, a manga otaku who can see spirits; and Tamon Koutarou, who can speak with spirits but is not good with people.
Growing Popularity Ahead of the Anime
The latest 8th volume is set for release on October 2, 2026. The series’ cumulative circulation has surpassed 1.4 million copies, including digital editions. It also earned 2nd place in the 2025 Nationwide Booksellers’ Recommended Comics and 4th place in the 2025 Manga We Want to See Animated Ranking, showing strong attention and popularity.
In September 2025, Anime! Anime! also featured the title in its “Recommended Manga Notebook” column, describing it as a ghost-hunting youth manga with irresistible antics from its high school boys.
