Pre-orders are now open for a new Initial D heat-change mug that brings the series’ famous quotes and memorable scenes to the surface when hot water is poured.
A Manga That Changed Car Culture
Initial D—often shortened to IniD—is a manga by Shigeno Shuichi that has surpassed 56 million copies in circulation and marked its 30th anniversary of serialization in 2025. The story centers on public-road battles, with car action at its core. It features numerous real-world vehicles, including protagonist Fujiwara Takumi’s Toyota AE86, and has had a major impact on the automotive industry, sparking interest in cars among young readers and car fans alike.
The series also won over many fans with its human drama: characters grow significantly both as drivers and as people, and their conflicts and passions drive the narrative. Initial D has found popularity worldwide, with translations and broadcasts in countries across Asia and Europe. The story later led to MF Ghost, set in a near-future world with the real public-road racing battle “MFG,” and the currently serialized Subaru to Suisei, the latest entry in the “Public Road Fastest Series.”
Hot Water Reveals the World of Initial D
The heat-change mug features a calm black base and a substantial, weighty design. When hot water is poured in, the artwork printed on the mug changes, revealing famous lines and iconic scenes from the series. It is an item that lets you enjoy the world of Initial D every time you pour a drink. Made of ceramic, it has been finished in a size that is easy to use for daily coffee or tea.
Because it is a limited-quantity production, it may sell out early depending on sales. Those who want one should act quickly.
