Universal Studios Japan has announced that its special event “Universal Cool Japan 2027” will begin on December 2, 2026. The first collaboration revealed for the event is Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon.
Sailor Moon Returns for a Fourth USJ Collaboration
This will be the fourth collaboration between USJ and Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, following 2018, 2019, and 2022. Two attractions are planned: the return of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: The Miracle 4-D ~Moon Palace-hen Deluxe~ and the first-ever Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon x Story Ride.
The Miracle 4-D Returns
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: The Miracle 4-D ~Moon Palace-hen Deluxe~ will run at the Cinema 4-D Theater from December 2, 2026, to April 5, 2027. The attraction uses 3D imagery and environmental effects to create a sense that the Sailor Senshi are close enough to touch and to immerse guests in the world of the work. It features fantastical, dynamic transformation scenes and powerful action unfolding before guests’ eyes. The experience combines two sides of the Sailor Senshi: their cool figures as they face difficulties, and their beautiful dress figures as they dance gracefully at a ball. It is described as a blissful miracle experience in which the admiration of girls around the world becomes reality and love for the beloved work overflows.
Story Ride Debuts
The first-ever Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon x Story Ride will also run from December 2, 2026, to April 5, 2027, at Hollywood Dream The Ride. More details about the attraction will be announced later.
Sailor Moon’s Long-Running Legacy
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon is a shoujo manga by Takeuchi Naoko that began serialization in Kodansha’s monthly magazine Nakayoshi in 1991. The original manga has been translated into 20 languages, and the anime series has been developed in more than 40 countries, causing a social phenomenon in Japan and overseas.
A new project began in 2012. As part of the 30th anniversary project, the franchise has continued a wide range of activities, including e-book releases, musicals, a fan club, an official store, and exhibitions. In 2024, the long-awaited art book Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Raisonne ART WORKS 1991-2023 was released. From 2025, the performance show “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” The Super Live began with a London performance, followed by a North American tour and a homecoming performance in Japan. In April 2026, a new experiential theater, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon -Shining Theater Shinagawa Tokyo-, opened at Shinagawa Prince Hotel Club eX, and the franchise is seeing even more excitement.
More Universal Cool Japan 2027 Details to Come
Universal Cool Japan 2027 will continue to feature collaborations with more extremely popular works. Original food and goods for Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon are also planned. Sale start dates and further details will be announced later.
