The manga Manshuu Ahen Squad has been confirmed for an anime adaptation. The announcement came with an anime adaptation reveal visual that offers a glimpse into part of the production.
Set in Manshuu during Shouwa 12, Manshuu Ahen Squad follows Hinata Isamu, a Kantougun soldier who lost the sight in his right eye on the battlefield. To save his sick mother, he becomes involved in the illicit manufacture of opium, a decision that throws both his own fate and the fate of Manshuu into upheaval. The crime suspense series has surpassed 3.5 million cumulative copies in circulation for its original comics.
The manga is original by Monma Tsukasa, drawn by Tsurushima, with art concept by Kanoko. It resumed its long-awaited serialization in the October 5 issue of Kodansha’s Young Magazine. Alongside the return, a newly drawn serialization-resume visual by Tsurushima was revealed.
The anime adaptation was revealed at the same time as the manga’s serialization resumption. A reveal visual that allows viewers to see part of the anime production was also released. Details such as the production studio and staff will be announced in sequence on the official website and the work’s official social media, so further updates are expected.
To commemorate the resumption, all chapters of Manshuu Ahen Squad can be read for free on YanMaga Web and Comic DAYS until October 11 at 23:59. With the anime adaptation on the way, this is a chance to get into the series.
