Anime Reveals More Cast and Staff
The TV anime adaptation of Arai Sumiko’s Kininatteru Hito ga Otoko ja Nakatta manga revealed additional cast, staff, and its first promotional video during the Crunchyroll Showcase at New York Comic Con 2026 on Thursday. The series is scheduled to premiere on January 8 at 11:00 p.m. on NTV’s Friday Anime Night timeslot.

Staff Additions
Noma Kousuke and Sasaki Takayuki (Koujirou) are joining the staff as music composers.
Ishihama Masashi (Horimiya) is directing the anime at CloverWorks. Yamazaki Rino (Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku) is handling series composition, and Hirayama Kanna ([Oshi no Ko]) is designing the characters.
Manga Background
Arai Sumiko originally began posting the music-themed girls love manga, also known by its short title Kinioto, on their X (formerly Twitter) account in April 2022. Kadokawa began printing the manga in April 2023 and published the fourth volume last February. The fifth volume is planned for release on January 13.
Yen Press licensed the manga in English in April 2024 and released the first volume in October that year. The third volume went on sale in December 2025, with the fourth volume scheduled for release on October 27. The manga is also published in multiple foreign languages, including Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
