A Time-Leap Suspense Story
Based on Ken Wakui’s time-leap suspense manga Tokyo卍Revengers, which ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2017 to 2022 and won the 44th Kodansha Manga Award in the shonen category, Tokyo Revengers follows former delinquent Takemichi Hanagaki. Once known as a middle schooler at his peak, Takemichi time-leaps 12 years into the past after the death of his only girlfriend from those days. To save her and to change the self who kept running away, he takes on a life revenge.
The anime’s first season adapted the 8/3 Conflict Arc and Bloody Halloween Arc and aired from April to September 2021. Season 2, Christmas Showdown Arc, followed from January to April 2023, and Season 3, Tenjiku Arc, aired from October to December of the same year. The franchise has also expanded through live-action film and stage adaptations.
Season 4: Santen Sensou-hen
The October-premiering Santen Sensou-hen is the fourth season. After the conflict between Tokyo Manji Gang and Tenjiku ends in a tragic result, each side carries grief while moving toward the next path. Takemichi feels fear and awe toward the deceased Tetta Kisaki. After hearing the full story of the time leaps, Mikey—Manjirou Sano—makes a certain decision. With the battle over and the past left behind, Takemichi finally reaches the ideal future where his girlfriend Hinata Tachibana is alive. But “he” is not there.
In a world that has entered the “Three Deities Era,” where three teams fight for supremacy, the final revenge begins. Directed by Kodaira Maki, the anime is produced by Liden Films, with Shin Yuuki and others leading the cast.
