The world of the TV anime Hikaru no Go has been turned into a collection of ring objets, and preorders are now open. The set comes from MAYLA, the fashion brand that markets itself with the catchphrase “raise your body temperature by 2°C,” and it brings together six rings. Orders are being accepted from October 9 at 17:00 until November 9 at 17:00.
About Hikaru no Go
Hikaru no Go is based on a story by Hotta Yumi with artwork by Obata Takeshi, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The hugely popular work is credited with introducing the appeal of Go to a wide audience.
The story follows Shindou Hikaru, an elementary school student who, by chance, becomes possessed by the spirit of Fujiwara no Sai, a genius Go player from the Heian period. Spurred on by Sai’s passion for the game and by the presence of young elite player Touya Akira, Hikaru gradually begins to blossom as a Go talent.
Even though Go was a subject unfamiliar to most readers at the time, the dynamic storytelling and the appeal of its characters won over not only existing manga fans but also many new readers, from children to adults. The TV anime adaptation of the original manga aired 75 episodes between October 2001 and March 2003, and the series also went on to inspire a stage production and a live-action drama in China. The TV anime marks its 25th anniversary on October 10, 2026.
Six Rings That Capture the Story
