About Kusuriya no Hitorigoto
Authored by Hyuuga Natsu and published by Hero Bunko, Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (which can be translated as The Apothecary Diaries or Maomao’s Soliloquy) is a captivating palace mystery entertainment series. It follows Maomao, a young girl working as a “poison taster” in the rear palace, as she solves intricate cases often pushed upon her by the handsome eunuch, Jinshi. The series has also inspired two manga adaptations, serialized in “Monthly Big Gangan” and “Monthly Sunday GX.”
The first season of the TV anime, comprising 24 episodes, premiered in October 2023. Its intriguing mystery elements garnered significant attention, even earning a special award at the “TVer Award 2023.” Fans are eagerly anticipating the second season, which is set to air for two consecutive cours starting January 2025, and a sequel production has already been announced!
