About Ranma 1/2

For those unfamiliar, *Ranma 1/2* is a wildly popular martial arts romantic comedy, originally serialized in “Weekly Shounen Sunday” from issue 36 of 1987 to issue 12 of 1996. It’s based on the manga by the legendary mangaka Takahashi Rumiko, celebrated for other masterpieces such as *Urusei Yatsura*, *Maison Ikkoku*, *Inuyasha*, *Kyoukai no RINNE*, and *MAO*. The first season of its ‘completely new anime’ adaptation premiered in October 2024, generating significant buzz, especially with the return of its original voice cast. Fans can look forward to the second season, which will begin airing on Nippon TV starting October 4th.

The story kicks off when Saotome Genma, who was training in China, arrives at the Tendou family home with his son, Ranma. However, instead of the expected duo, a giant panda and a cute girl appear! It turns out that Ranma, during his rigorous training in China, fell into Jusenkyou’s Nyannichuan (Spring of Drowned Girl), developing a peculiar condition: he transforms into a girl when splashed with cold water, and reverts to a boy with hot water. This sets the stage for Ranma and his diverse cast of companions to navigate a series of hilarious, heartwarming, and sometimes romantic adventures, involving everyone they meet.
