About Mahou Kishi Rayearth
Mahou Kishi Rayearth is an epic *isekai* adventure brought to us by CLAMP, the renowned creative team behind popular works like Cardcaptor Sakura, xxxHOLiC, and Tsubasa -RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE-. The story begins when Shidou Hikaru, Ryuuzaki Umi, and Hououji Fuu, three middle school girls on a field trip to Tokyo Tower, are suddenly summoned to the mystical parallel world of “Cephiro” by Princess Emeraude. Their fate entwines as they become the legendary “Magic Knights,” tasked with rescuing the imprisoned princess and saving Cephiro from impending doom.
This enchanting series was serialized in Kodansha’s *Nakayoshi* shoujo manga magazine from 1993 to 1995. Its popularity soared with the TV anime adaptation, produced by Tokyo Movie (now TMS Entertainment) from 1994 to 1995. The anime became a massive hit, famously featuring Tamura Naomi’s iconic theme song “Yuzurenai Negai” (Unyielding Wish), which sold over a million copies. As 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the TV anime’s broadcast, a new anime project has also been announced, rekindling the magic for both veteran fans and newcomers alike!
